We are excited to continue using this platform for future drug discovery and to find treatments for IPF.

Intriguingly, iRAPs carrying a mutation in Hermansky Pudlak Syndrome 1 (HPS1), a highly penetrant mutation associated with IPF, showed impaired differentiation and recruited fibroblasts in co-culture, suggesting a direct link between RAPs and pulmonary fibrosis.

We are excited to share our work out this week in Nature Biotechnology. We generate from pluripotent stem cells induced respiratory airways progenitors (iRAPs), a novel cell type that is increasingly being appreciated for its ability to regenerate the distal lung.

We also reveal that replication stress and DNA damage in HSCs are at least in part due to uracil misincorporation, and are a barrier to HSC maintenance in vitro.

Induction of G2 arrest may be a novel strategy to generate megakaryocytes and platelets from HSCs.

We are proud to share the collaborative work of our graduate student, Corey Garyn, and post-doc, Oriol Bover. They show that G2 arrest, which is caused by DNA damage, induces megakaryocyte (MK) priming in hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). cell.com/cell-reports/f…

She studies the function of mitochondrial dynamics in hematopoiesis.

Meet Yan Yao, a post doc on the blood side of the Snoeck Lab. Originally from China 🇨🇳, she joined the lab in 2019.

Her project aims to investigate how mitochondria, the powerhouses of cells, appear able to dampen the effects of age and age-related malignancies on blood stem cells.

Meet Carolina Petrillo, a post doc on the blood side of the Snoeck Lab. Originally from Italy🇮🇹, she completed her PhD in Italy before joining the lab in 2019.

Her project involves using fibrotic lung organoid models as a tool for drug discovery and testing. She also analyzes genomics data with a focus on scRNA sequencing to better decode our lung organoid models.

Meet Tania Ahalya Thimraj, a post doc on the lung side of the Snoeck Lab. Originally from India 🇮🇳, she completed her PhD in India before joining the lab in 2019.

His project focuses on how mutations that cause fibrotic lung diseases result in defects in regeneration and impaired stress response.

Meet Juan Torres, an MD-PhD student on the lung side of the Snoeck Lab. Originally from California ☀️, he graduated from UCLA before joining the lab in 2022.
