Its not cash issues, its willingness to spend said cash, or squirrel all of it away for Darnell and Caleb extensions.
They didn't have the greenlight to spend in FA clearly, but I've never said the door is closed. Kevin/Ryan/Ben need to convince George to give the go ahead for it.

Taking a guy who is 25 is a rookie is no doubt a risk. I totally understand not wanting to make that bet. But I don’t get why we don’t consider taking guys who didn’t produce as pass rushers in college as much of if not more of a risk

I'm sure cost would be expensive (guessing 1st rounder this year + conditional 2027 pick, not to mention huge contract), but plugging Lawrence into the middle of Chicago's DL immediately elevates their defense and makes them legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

Cannot be understated just how poorly Ryan Poles has built this defense. One of the worst in the league, and one of the most expensive.
Bears have their promising QB on his rookie contract and aren’t even really able to take advantage of it

So there is an uproar after Adam Schefter said the Bears are broke. Relax. After making calls here’s the scoop. That was in reference to salary cap situation. They have whatever they need financially if Poles wants to make a move. We will discuss on @ESPN1000 Monday at 6 a.m.

Think it’s legit he contacted AS or someone close to confirm he meant salary cap. If he was able to find out Bears were cash poor i believe he’d be ripping them in a similar fashion
