@barneyfarmer British society's changing relationship with alcohol and the young's decision to largely abandon it hasn't incorporated much discussion of other ways in which the altered state is pursued and the social and physical impacts of that. At least, it wasn't talked about in my pub.

We’ve known for a long time that higher primates are almost universally drawn to pursue the altered state, but we don’t like talking about it because (a) it undermines the myth of rational humanity and (2) the hierarchy of means to said end is all bound up in matters moralistic.

@KVanValkenburg I've visited (I live about 150 miles south) a few years ago and I was pleased to see how much it's incorporated into the town, no gating at all. It isn't totally clear from watching on TV that that's the case. Or maybe it is, and I just didn't notice. Anyway, enjoy visiting!

@Sundogmonkey That's the thing about it. There was no growth model, no foundations in place such as a pre-agreed tv deal. So it's difficult to see the whole idea as something other than leverage to muscle into part-ownership of the PGA, which has failed. It seems a lot bigger than golf...

@Sobakyevich75 Clearly it doesn’t in current guise. It would become a genuine start up which without Saudi imprint may b attractive to some investors. Prize $ tho would have to be akin to DP or KF. No contracts, signing fees etc. Just somewhere to play & earn a decent living if u play well.

@Sundogmonkey It did seem like he was more tense at the start of the round, then it spiralled downwards. He's done well to be where he is. I think he'll be lighter of spirit tomorrow, more "Whatever happens, happens" and he'll probably win by 4.
