Not a fan of the hawkish poster but this is very true. Years ago I met the exec director of B'Tselem (very good human rights group) and she had four kids under six, while doing a hard job. The society encourages and enables this. Others could learn from it.
Mark Dubowitz@mdubowitz

Israel is the only Western country not facing a fertility crisis. And it’s not only the religious who are having many children; it’s secular Israelis as well.

Gordon Brown's journalism on Andrew continues, he now says he has sent a five page document to a number of police forces about flight rosters at Stansted and other airports. Another extraordinary element of this crisis is the former PM's service here.

BBC reporting that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. There is no precedent for a senior member of the royal family being placed under arrest in modern British history. A seismic moment for the monarchy.

@venom1s Gukesh is a super GM, rated 2754. Alexandra Botez and Anna Cramling are around 2000, Andrea Botez is around 1800. That's a huge difference, Gukesh could defeat them blindfolded.

Youngest chess world champion ever Gukesh D played against three female chess influencers at the same time and defeated them while having one hand in his pocket. Women say men are better in sports because men are biologically stronger, then why can't women compete with men in mind games like chess? Why are there different criteria for the grandmaster title and the female grandmaster title if men and women are equal?

Up 94% on my silver position. $5.3K in → now worth $10,287. Do I sell half to get my cost basis back and let the rest ride "risk-free"? Or let the full position run? Genuinely torn. What would you do?

@SandyofCthulhu Isn't it also true that in the west the arrow goes on the left of the bow, over the fingers, whilst in the east it goes to the right, over the thumb?

When I took archery in college, they taught us the English method of archery, which is generally what the West uses. In this style, you pull the string with the first two fingers of your right, drawing the arrow to your cheek before loosing. The standard method used by most continental archers was to draw the bow back only to the chest. This was generally inferior in power, but was easy and fast. Not a lot of study has been done on how American Indians used their bows, but they seem to have had bows without a lot of power - 30-50 lbs of draw weight, and got as close to their prey as possible before shooting. There are drawings from life of Sioux and Cheyenne riding horses right next to fleeing bison and shooting from less than a yard away. For the American Indians, stealth or horsemanship was more important than a bow's power. . The English who adopted the longbow had a uniquely powerful weapon, typically up to a 100 lb draw or even more. They also changed the way the bow was pulled, so much so that almost no trace remains of the older method. In light of this, it's interesting that in Asia, a different technique was developed, which is probably even better than the longbow method. 1/2

Who still thinks that people with lower LDL levels are protected from heart disease? 75% of the people who were hospitalized with heart disease in this study of 136,000 had NORMAL or LOW cholesterol. It's either the greatest assembly of anecdotes in the history of science or the war against LDL is really a war against human health.

Hi Philip, you had a decent source for those estimates 😎, I was just a few thousand on the conservative side, but correct in saying we have reached 300,000 and putting out there that 1-in-3 of all healthy pregnancies now end in abortion. Perhaps now that official sources have caught up, we might start to have meaningful national discussions about the serious demographic impact of abortion.

These were the birth and abortion numbers that I sent viral last year. 2023 and 2024 numbers for abortions were estimates. The actual data for 2023 is now out: it is higher than the estimate. Britain is self-euthanising as a society. 🇬🇧📉

Prof David Gordon suspended for 14+ months by @BristolUni for defending academic freedom & gender-critical views, despite clearing him of harassment, Bristol found Prof Gordon had disobeyed a reasonable management instruction (because he sent an email!) Bristol declines comment on why these laws don't seem to apply to them: Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023, Human Rights Act 1998 (Art 10), Equality Act 2010, Education (No. 2) Act 1986 (Sec 43), Employment Rights Act 1996. Support Prof Gordon, universities must uphold debate, not silence it! #AcademicFreedom #FreeSpeech

OHP PR yesterday. 132lbs for 3x5. Weight shifted a little forward on the second rep making it a bit of a struggle. But overall this workout felt a lot easier than the past few OHP. Thinking about progressing a bit more next time.

@SocialPolicy @Athens_Stranger Data is normally the plural of datum. A split infinitive is not bad grammar but often bad writing style. Clarity prevails Yes, in certain contexts they can be used in the singular but always as "they are," never they is.
