@EvComrade Is this written down anywhere or is there a photo? Just trying to find proof of this but it doesn't look like the NUS keeps public records of who holds the Queer Office

This gay guy who was in National Labor Students is now a One Nation MP. From Queer Officer to the far right. Cursed.

@Revmira_RCO I think you overestimate how much workers care about the ALP and actually the most left wing workers in the country don't like them because of decades of sellouts. Concretely if the aus left joined the ALP, argued to those people to join, it would be a disaster and bkwrds step.

@SocialistSamIam I think this is a clear ignoring of the major lessons of the early Comintern. Communists must organise wherever there are workers. And there is a level of Left opposition which if it can be cohered would be a major step forward. Though as always without a party we have nothing

The urgent task remains to construct a powerful socialist movement with roots in the working class, with all its wonderful diversity. Only by developing such an instrument can we end the far right for good. redflag.org.au/article/when-f…

A very good statement from the Palestine Action Group Sydney on the Australian government's imminent recognition of a Palestinian state. As they say "We will not settle for symbolic diplomacy while genocide continues".

On this day 1 August 1949, the federal Labor government of Ben Chifley deployed 2,500 soldiers against striking coalminers in the NSW Hunter Valley – the first time since federation that Australian military personnel had been deployed against workers during peacetime.

On this day 8 April 1972, workers constructing the Sydney Opera House ejected management from the site and began running it themselves. With no bosses in the way, workers' job satisfaction soared, and the workers won wage increases, reduced working hours, and improved conditions.
