@24HourMaths When was the last time the record was broken starting from London? I am thinking at least 60 years. I vaguely remember Cliff Smith getting the record and lifting his bike up outside the Post office in London.

Pete Dyson is at 245 miles and flying (23.7 mph average) - here come the lumps...

Believe it or not, these everyday items were the norm not too long ago. One generation of separation and you might have missed out completely on these things!

@FrankleyMan I hope it was pointed out to them that it is not a legal requirement to wear a helmet. It is a pity the same officers are not so vigilant about motorists parking in cycle lanes.

These officers may have had the best of intentions, when they pulled me and my GD over for cycling in the bike lane, without helmets, but it may not work out that way. Following our exchange, the first thing my GD said was, "I'm not going on my bike again now."
