@SolarHeavy Love this, mate, been playing it on repeat. How did you come across it?

@aakashgupta this is partially accurate, so much more in-between the fine lines that goes on to get a final cut like this. proper mix, master, it's polished for sure

A 21-year-old loading Coca-Cola trucks in Owatonna, Minnesota. Can't sleep after his night shifts. So he sits on the floor of his parents' basement at 2 AM with a MicroKorg synth on his lap.
He has zero audio engineering training. Pressing buttons and turning knobs without knowing what they do. He builds a little "ping" sound, routes it through some guitar pedals, hums melodies over it in gibberish for a few days, then fills in the words.
Three days. Done. Wasn't even his favorite song on the album.
"Fireflies" went #1 in 26 countries. 10 million copies sold. Diamond certified. Hit a billion Spotify streams last month.
Adam Young had no label, no producer, no co-writers, no strategy. He had insomnia and a $500 synthesizer in a basement in a town of 25,000 people.

with a little bit of digging you'll see I've been putting music out for over a decade, and for years I barely hit 10k monthly listeners on Spotify, so definitely an indie artist, just because I invest in my promotion by running ads doesn't really change that, I'll never sign to a label, or have anyone tell me what I can or can't make music wise so there's a reason I do it solo and build this on my own, and honestly it's the best decision I've ever made, I'll keep running ads, keep making music, and stay indie doing it, you don't just suddenly become some mainstream artist when you break a million or even 10 million streams lol

few things; tbh i wasn’t expecting ya to respond given prolly every person on here has seen ur promo ads at one point or another & id imagine ya do the same/similar everywhere else. believe me i get it; hardest industry on the planet & talent can only getcha so far. don’t play that technical game with me tho dawg. we both know that a million people have & would tell you the same. if you’d like, i can truly break it down for ya, but indie artists don’t have/spend multiple thousands on ads that labels wouldn’t even invest in an artist. why would ya wana be signed to big label when u got more promo $ to do it urself? wonder how ya have all this $ to piss away on promo also? lol. 😂 we both know ;). ill happily get into it, but the issue is acting like you a real indie artist tryna make it vs. the dude known for not his music but for spending more $ on promotion than the entire commercial industry combined.
English

@iLLPeTiLL spending money on promo, just like major artists do doesn't change me being indie, indie means not signed to a label, as in, independent, what label am I on?
English

@SolarHeavy lol dawg you spend more money on commercial ads more than the commercial industry itself. indie artist lol. gtfo
