California’s $20 fast-food minimum wage raised restaurant prices approximately 3–4 percent. Other prices including food-at-home exhibit no differential movement, pointing to wage-driven pass-through, from @jeffreypclemens, Olivia Edwards, Jonathan Meer, and Joshua D. Nguyen nber.org/papers/w34990

I've got brand new data about American religion that was collected in October of 2025. And, folks... The share of Americans who are non-religious has dropped for the third year in a row. Atheists and agnostics are down to 5% each. Those are 2014 levels.

@NathanNobis @bryan_caplan Average people forget most everything they learn in school and remember the things they do at work. That’s not a coincidence.

Except for parts of LA, Houston has the highest share of illegal residents in the country. More than one in five people in Houston are illegal immigrants or live in a household with an illegal immigrant. Mass deportation would be ruinous to the city.

One thing I observed while covering the ICE deployment to Houston's Hobby Airport today... Lots of folks, including airport workers, shaking their heads or sharing their disdain for ICE under their breaths as they watched federal immigration agents walking by.

Evangelicals are the only religious group where a majority do not agree with these 3 statements: Abortion should be legal Gay and lesbian people should be allowed to marry Homosexuality should be accepted by society

Yes, but I also think the main point was that the logic of deregulating things leading to positive effects applies to those sectors among others, and many progressives especially don’t acknowledge the benefits of fossil fuels and labor deregulation. Some don’t even recognize the benefits of nuclear.

Smarter leftists now prioritize YIMBY. Some talk of the “housing theory of everything.” This is a welcome development, but doesn’t go far enough. There’s nothing conceptually special about housing. Take the broad lesson that we just need freer markets. richardhanania.com/p/the-broad-le…

“My family was super religious, but I rejected it young.” That story gets told a lot—but it’s rare. Just 2% say they had a very religious childhood and left early. In reality, religion is usually passed down. Your parents' faith tends to become your own.

@RichardHanania Yes and no. There is, in fact, something conceptually special about housing in how it interacts with every other sector
