A-10 was damn good all year. Didn’t get the national respect it deserved because of some bad losses early, but VCU and SLU showing out today. Dominance from the Billikens tonight against Georgia.

@jeffborzello Georgia looked like a team that had never played together before. One of the least-cohesive performances I have ever seen in an NCAA tournament game. Nobody knew their defensive assignments.

Georgia getting wrecked for a second straight year in an 8-9 game. Mike White has definitely improved the program and Georgia shouldn’t take NCAA bids for granted, but it’s hard to be satisfied by getting blown out in the first round

@jorcubsdan Same. Getting beat is one thing, playing awful at the worst possible time is another, but coming out looking unprepared, confused and bewildered against a team you should be on the level with is something entirely different. They looked like they'd never played basketball before.

Off the top of my head, Georgia with maybe the worst NCAA Tournament performance I’ve ever seen. They looked completely unprepared for anything SLU runs

@TheoLawson_SR To Few's credit, tonight was actually one of the closer games of those 17. Most have been blowouts. Their only two true close calls that they were in danger of losing were in 2013 vs Southern (nearly the first 1-16 upset) and 2018 vs UNC Greensboro.

Mark Few on appreciating 17 straight wins in NCAA openers: "Always, always I understand just how hard it is to win a game in this tournament. I think that's one of the things I'm most proud of, this streak of 28 straight or 27 straight now for our program. I mean, you watch today, watch 16 seeds give 1s all kinds of problems. ... It's really, really tough to win games this tournament."

@RockChalkBlog Since 2019 when this run started, their first round scores have been: 84-55, 87-56, 82-68, 63-52, 86-46, 78-40 and 78-47. They are one it's basically impossible for a mid-to-low major team to pull an upset against.

Houston is the closest thing to 2010s Kansas that we'll ever see in college hoops. Their style, their coach, their business mentality. They just demoralize you. I'd imagine it has to feel like they have 10 guys on the floor when you go against them.

@SKarrG0 Portland officials have to be breathing a sigh of relief. The attendance was already bad today but there would have been about 500 people in the stands for a Texas vs Kennesaw State game.

Doesn’t matter how pretty or how ugly it is, every NCAA Tournament win counts the same. For all the success Gonzaga has had the last 30 years, I’m always in awe of their first round winning streak of 17 games. That’s insane. On to Saturday we go.
