Jesus is not God the Father. He is the Son of God. He is not “God with skin”. I’m not sure why this is so difficult for Christians to understand. Jesus prayed to God. The idea that he was praying to himself is absurd. Jesus had to subordinate his will to that of the Father. Jesus is divine, but he is not God the Father. Esteemed biblical scholar Michael Heiser talked of a belief in ancient Judaism of a “dual godhead” in Heaven with the Father and Son. I think that’s a good way of comprehending it. I believe this teaching in modern Christianity that God and Jesus are basically the same thing is unbiblical and harmful to understanding Scripture.
