@SomePole1

Don't know when I use this thing, I just do from time to time. I like History/Alternate History, the other things I like I struggle to word. Sue me.

@thatpandaddy @herick_louis @Nyanmandoge Depends on how you interpret the song and Hell as a whole. Sometimes purgatory is enough of a punishment in itself. Other times Hell is made as a comeuppance personalised to the person being punished, often reflecting their actions back at them.

@thatpandaddy @herick_louis @Nyanmandoge Charlie in the song was trying to cheat his way in. That's the point. Just as much as we punish those who try and cheat their ways into positions by doing half the work, often for their own benefit, why can't God?

@thatpandaddy @herick_louis @Nyanmandoge He doesn't complete outright devotion in the way you depict him being. God is willing to accept your faults so long as you have the honesty and strength to accept your own flaws while asking to be forgiven for them. Believing you're flawless is pride which is a sin in itself.

@Junoesoffline @number1navisimp @Nyanmandoge "avoiding all the little things that were hard to ask" is also a line in the song. The song also states that this was all performative. He did the easy way of looking like a good person without ever putting himself in a situation that'd show his true moral character.

@number1navisimp @Nyanmandoge the first few lines only describe him doing good things though?? why would you choose to use those as your point..

@thatpandaddy @herick_louis @Nyanmandoge There is a difference between artificially making yourself look spotless and being the best person you can be with your faults. Everyone has then, but it takes maturity and honesty with ones self to see them and ask for forgiveness instead of expecting a red carpet like Charlie.

@thatpandaddy @herick_louis @Nyanmandoge Well, insincerity is a form of lying and lying is a sin. So technically speaking, because one was being insincere and more trying to complete a checklist to win yourself a spot in Heaven rather than being the best you can be with your faults, you failed and are punished for it.

@QrisaCepilinNyE We're taut to be weary of those insincere of what they actually say and do, no? Same reasoning here. Charlie was being insincere, going as far as to use people because he believed the path to Heaven was a checklist of objectives to complete and not a reward for being the

@thatpandaddy @herick_louis @Nyanmandoge Wanting to be in Heaven isn't inherently selfish, but ultimately lying to yourself and others about your character to try and artificially "win" yourself a spot instead of being the best person you can be, faults and all is not going to get you an entry ticket.

@thatpandaddy @herick_louis @Nyanmandoge The whole point is that God can tell if you're not being honest and using others as a means to an end for a desire to accomplish a selfish thought. Jesus says on how those who use God's name, but don't believe in what they do and use it for their own gain won't go to Heaven.

@Cragem178809 @oreste_comics @NikTheGiant98 It is, but it doesn't work like say, a certain Family Guy clip does it. If one seeks to repent, it has to be genuinely sincere which may be hard to describe in words, but the motivation behind such repentance has to be genuine and not as an attempt to avoid judgement.

@SomePole1 @oreste_comics @NikTheGiant98 Yea for earthly appearances but you can totally repent and accept jesus for the sake of getting into heaven. Thats… sort of the point of his sacrifice?

@RollForAss @AriTheAriGuy @_mosshaven No, the whole point of the song is that you can claim to be a good person, but insincerity aka lying is a sin. You're using others purely as a means of winning yourself a spot in Heaven, not wanting to do actually good things because it came from the heart. Just for appearances.

@AriTheAriGuy @_mosshaven still, his "crime" is nothing compared to like murderers and shit. makes god seem like an egotistical prick, and tbe whole mercy/forgiveness thing just a facade. imo this song's real message really feels to me that you can be a good person your whole life, and still get fucked

i still don't understand why he was sent to hell "he did everything to get into heaven" YEAH? ISN'T THAT THE POINT? Are you just supposed to be born a good person in order to get into heaven?

@tigorno @EddyGoogen @justagreenpear @oreste_comics Because the song makes it clear that he thought he had done all the 'right steps' towards getting a place in Heaven. It is not the same as mourning but knowing you'll be reunited someday, its an excitement feeling like you've won the lottery after enough tries.

@EddyGoogen @justagreenpear @oreste_comics He's expecting to making it to FUCKING HEAVEN a place where he knows his family and friends will probably get to be in as well. He literally says see you later, why would he mourn someone that's going to spend eternity with him?

@mryugo3000 @Meowingthetea @oreste_comics There is a logic behind it. People often change their behaviour if they know they're being watched or may face punishment for certain actions. It's an observable effect.

@Cragem178809 @oreste_comics @NikTheGiant98 Ehh, Jesus in the Bible says that people who preach and do things in God's name in vain (as in, not actually believing in it, they just want the appearance to for ulterior motives), those people aren't gonna be let in because God can tell who is doing it honestly or not.

@oreste_comics @NikTheGiant98 In life we're often told to be weary of people who are insincere about what they do, because they often do it more as a means to an end for something else. That in itself can be harmful to the person or people led on.

@oreste_comics @NikTheGiant98 You can make the argument that your intentions still do matter in why you choose to do something. Wanting to do something nice because you genuinely want to says more about your character than wanting to "look good" and get a pass into Heaven.
