After my in person interviews at Google, I hand wrote all my interviewers Thank You cards that I had brought on the plane.
I don’t know if it helped get the job. I do know every single person followed up with the contact information I provided to thank me for the kind gesture.

The idea of a "thank you" note for etiquette's sake is an outmoded practice. I do believe that the power of following up to the conversation can help make a candidate stand out, stay top of mind, reiterate their interest...
