Gonna say something here that will not be popular. I’m watching the SEC media days on SEC Network this morning. I have to say for the past year or so I enjoy watching Mizzou’s Coach Drink navigate the media. He is humorous and real and not a company guy giving the company answer as other coaches do to frequently.

Opinions on this team will be all over the map. You will see preseason rankings in the top 25 and things like this. None of it is unfair. Some will trust Drink, others will look at a defense that is a complete rebuild and a question mark at QB. Just spot the ball man.

CALLING MY SHOT: Oklahoma (if healthy) will average over 5 YPC for the season. This immediately makes Oklahomas floor at 9 wins minimum. Fine to be bookmarked by this, but with the changes in the TE room and a world class RB coach. It’s there to be had for the #Sooners

@corey_blayne The issue is the ball is late. The window on the right is not ideal but it’s doable. TE also stacks and gets vertical after getting past his man and isn’t looking for the ball in time One on the left is maybe a TD sadly so its a big missed opportunity in either case

Seam route against cover 3. But the safety is in position to make a play even if Mateer throws it to the right place. Additionally, the throw being off has nothing to do with his thumb at all. Look at his feet to understand why he floated it toward the boundary. Pretty simple

We really missed out on the diabolical-level USC-OU rivalry that could have printed money for multiple years. Feels like both fanbases are (mostly) over it tbh.

Great coverage (and play-call by PK btw 👀) But watching Levitt make such a bad decision with the game on the line (3rd and 8) makes me hesitant about LSU being an instant natty contender this fall. Play-call on offense did him no favors tbf.

@SoonerVirginia We’re either going to be really good or incredibly average. Depends on Simmons and what we got in the portal at defense. I think the defense will actually be good again despite the turnover.

They develop well and still have Norfleet and Hardy/Roberts combo. Defense being a year away replacing that many guys could make it tough. Mizzou’s MO last couple of years is pound the rock, play-action, play great defense and SPT. Not built for shootouts every week

@BudElliott3 Venables has two horrific years and two really nice ones. Win 8-10 games this year and he moves up to 3rd tier easily

A local reporter asked #Sooners OL Eddy Pierre-Louis which local teams he rooted for while growing up in Tampa. He laughed. "It was really Oklahoma. Oklahoma was my dream school when I was a kid." (Having covered Eddy as a recruit, I can confirm this is 100% true, by the way)

When asked about the #Sooners inconsistencies last season, Mateer said: “I would say I was the reason for that. I watched the film and i cringed. I have to be better” There was a lot for QB1 to improve on, but it wasn’t perfect around him with a subpar run game and young offensive line. His leadership is one of the reasons he is so revered in the locker room.
