The Russians want Ukraine’s permission to hold their parade – so they can safely take to the square for an hour once a year, and then go back to killing *our* people and waging war. The Russians are already talking about strikes after May 9. A strange and certainly twisted logic from the Russian leadership. There are also messages from some states close to Russia that their representatives intend to be in Moscow. An odd desire at a time like this. We do not recommend it.

Russia violated the ceasefire initiated by Ukraine at midnight between May 5th and 6th. Russian attacks with the use of 108 drones and 3 missiles continued throughout the night, including morning strikes on Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia. Moscow once again ignored a realistic and fair call to end hostilities, supported by other states and international organisations. This shows that Russia rejects peace and its fake calls for a ceasefire on May 9th have nothing to do with diplomacy. Putin only cares about military parades, not human lives. Such attitude necessitates strong and increased pressure on the Russian regime, including new rounds of sanctions, isolation, accountability for Russian crimes, and enhanced support for Ukraine in all areas.

We sincerely appreciate this, and we discussed priority areas of our defense – particularly air defense – that can be strengthened with this package. I proposed to the Prime Minister that we strengthen our bilateral partnership by signing an agreement in the format of the Drone Deal. Ukraine is ready to share its expertise and strengthen those who have been strengthening us since the very beginning of the full-scale invasion. We also touched on international cooperation, particularly our European integration. There is now a good window of opportunity to open the negotiating clusters, and Ukraine fully deserves this. Russia. Helping with nuclear material. The Kremlin also made sure to warn Trump about “damaging consequences” if he renews the Iran war. So Putin is now issuing warnings to the American president. And the American president is apparently taking the call. Ninety minutes. That is a lot of time to be told what to do by a man who arrests his own generals. Here is what history tells us. After every one of these conversations, Trump emerges slightly more confused and considerably more dangerous. The next few weeks will involve at least one unhinged announcement, one ally publicly humiliated, and one idea so spectacularly stupid that the entire national security apparatus will spend a weekend trying to talk him out of it.
