"The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) is astonished by FIFA's decision to declare suspended United States player Folarin Balogun eligible to play in the USA–Belgium match on Monday, 6 July at 5:00 p.m. (Seattle time)." "FIFA bases its decision on Article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. This provision states that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee may decide to suspend the enforcement of a previously imposed disciplinary sanction." "However, Article 66.4 of the same FIFA Disciplinary Code clearly provides that a red card (sending-off) automatically results in a suspension for the team's next match, as has been the case for all previous red cards issued during this FIFA World Cup." "Furthermore, and irrespective of the above, the decision is in direct contradiction with the provisions of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Competition Regulations, as set out in Article 10.5: "If a player or team official is sent off as a result of a direct or indirect red card (second caution), they will automatically be suspended from their team's subsequent match. Tonight's game is live on STV. Points make prizes A win this evening would see Scotland qualify out of the group stages of a major tournament for the first time ever. A point wouldn't arithmetically guarantee progress but it will almost certainly be enough and we should still absolutely celebrate like fuck anyway if we get it. Rankings Morocco are currently ranked the 6th best team in the World ahead of the likes of Portugal, the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. They haven't lose a game since Kenya beat them 1-0 in an African Nations game in August 2025 and that's the only one they've lost since January 2024. Scotland are ranked in 37th place currently, but we like a challenge as 3rd ranked Spain know full well. Previously This is only the second time we've faced Morocco, and everyone knows full well what happened the first time. That was just 4 days shy of 28 years ago as they battered us 3-0 in St.Etienne on 23rd June 1998 to send us spinning out of the '98 World Cup. Referee The ref tonight is Ilgiz Tantashev from Uzbekistan. Seems to have fairly average card stats but once he gets going in a game he is capable of going a bit mental. A couple of his games have had 8,9 and even 10 cards inside the last year. Betting Unsurprisingly Morocco are 5/7 favs to prevail tonight with Scotland a big 13/3 and the draw a 13/5 option. We are at our absolute best as underdogs though. Sometimes. Believe Morocco looked really impressive against Brazil, and yes our lads didn't exactly hit the heights against Haiti but as other results have proven already this tournament, anything can happen. Some of our very best performances under Steve Clarke have been against the better sides and with the backing of our exceptional supporters, a wee bit of long overdue luck, and some massive performances from the men in navy blue we have to believe this could be our night.
