.@bctf members spent 14 years of strife & millions of dollars on getting to that Supreme Court of Canada win to restore our stripped contract. What do we have to show for it today when so many classes are in "remedy", the euphemism for contract violation? #WorkloadMatters #bcpoli

.@Dave_Eby It would be unfortunate to start your Premiership not only with the shadow of @AnjaliApp's disqualification but also with a reneging on class size & composition promises @bcndp made to @bctf for 14yrs while in Opposition. E80 revisited is a bad look. #bcpoli

#OnThisDay in 1914, the SS Komagata Maru arrived in Canadian waters with 376 Punjabi immigrants aboard. They were all British subjects, so why were they denied entry to Canada? Watch our NEW video for the story:

Dr Henry just said that indoor gatherings of any size are dangerous right now because of the variants AND YET thousands of maskless students are in overcrowded classrooms in @Surrey_Schools sitting within inches of each other. How does this make sense? #bcpoli #COVID19

Workers in #bced have the third highest number of compensation claims, only behind workers in long-term care and acute care settings. The number of claims by public school district workers exceeds those of health care workers in other settings, including emergency health care.

New WorkSafeBC data shows a 250% increase in occupational COVID-19 infection claims in the #bced sector since early December. The stats show the need for enhanced safety protocols in schools as education workers are second only to the health care sector in COVID19 claims.

WorkSafeBC stats show #bced teachers are at a significantly greater risk of occupational COVID19 infection compared with other workers in the province. Workers most at risk should be prioritized as vaccines become available. News release at bctf.ca/NewsReleases.a… Thread⬇️

BC companies capitalizing on the pandemic is unforgivable— hotel workers having their collective agreements stripped, work being contracted out, taxi dispatchers being locked out, jobs being sent overseas. When recovery starts & travel picks up, we will remember. #COVID19BC

@pattibacchus EA at my school -her kiddo learning mask toleration. She wears gloves, mask & shield every day. In Dec she contracted Covid. She goes to work, goes home, orders everything. But no evidence she contracted it at work. No class cases in Dec linked to her class. Still recovering.

I get messages from teachers and EAs telling me they caught COVID-19 at school, as well as colleagues, yet it doesn't show up in reporting. Happening more and more. Not sure what to make of this, but it's concerning. #bced

It’s #pinkshirtday. I’m standing up against bullying and oppression in all its forms, while thinking about the origins of this day, it’s intersection within #BlackHistoryMonth, and the strength that builds when we work together. #bced

@rhasegawaCTV Thanks 4 the interest. Please know we don’t want to disrupt or make it challenging/intimidating 4 our stds to come in. So hard to go through something like this when apart. Colleagues wanted to take an action together. So we’re walking in together, taking care of each other. ❤️

#bcpoli For those with foresight this would be a game changer. But the players are the same and they'll change nothing until a catastrophic event happens.
Surrey Teachers’ Association@SurreyTeachers

Having cases of variants in schools needs to be a game-changer. We require greater protections to keep schools operating! Time for @BCNDPCaucus to act decisively to improve safety by abandoning the one-size-fits-all approach in BC. #bced #bcpoli
