I had to do this in April and it sucked. Really bad. I used an at-home service (LapOfLove) and highly recommend them. The opinions I heard was that people almost never regretted the timing and that it's better to be a touch early than a touch late. They won't live forever, and we gave them a good life - and the last nice thing we can do for them is let them go with dignity.
