@SpAnalytic @swearimnotpaul That's simply not true. Bayern first rested their starters after securing the league which is quite recent. Bayern covered the 2nd most distance in BuLi, while having possession >60% - that's unheard of. So, whoever the opposition is, they certainly don't relax in their matches.

Dude, the Cluade session limits today seem to be stingy or token usage is super inefficient. I did some fairly minor html cleanup and changes that shouldn't have been complex and it ran into things very fast. That's annoying.

The red card definitely influenced the outcome of the match because the 2nd half was very even. But you have to praise how Bayern quickly seized their opportunity to punish Real Madrid. They went for the throat before Real Madrid even got a chance to re-organise.

How much of a point does Arteta have about intense schedule? Nuanced debate. Rice played 10 hours more league football than Kane this season. PL doesn’t have a winter break, loves pre-season tours, engaged in 2 domestic cups. Yet AFC in "less challenging" side of CL draw... 1/2

@YesItsBash Bayern's shortlist: Alonso (no), Nagelsmann (no), Rangnick (no), Glasner (no), De Zerbi (no), Flick (no), Tuchel please-come-back (no). How about that bloke at Burnley?

@JacobHorsfall_ Teams have a better xg delta when leading than when tied or losing. Shot delta is worse. But like others have said shot quality is far better when leading to trailing. This holds across all teams.

Game state not important for this? Like Everton I feel do a lot of sitting in and protecting a lead which means teams are battering them with shots. XG has its use & is great, but I hope people don’t use this as the “actual league table” or anything like that.

Just to expand on this, these are the competitive minutes each team has played in their domestic league this season. Arsenal have played 50% more competitive football than Bayern. Competitive = when games are level or within 1 goal

Why do Premier League teams struggle in the UCL at this stage of the season vs teams like PSG, Barca, Madrid, Bayern? Fatigue. They have physical battles every week against top teams all season. Those others do not. Credit to @scottjwillis for the graph idea 🫶 ClubElo data
