The versatile Vulcan rocket combines the best of legacy Atlas V and Delta IV Heavy into a single-core rocket to support U.S. national security, commercial and civil launch needs. Today we are flying the VC4S variant that stands 202 ft. tall and generates three million lbs. of thrust.

Liquid hydrogen propellant is now flowing into the Centaur V upper stage for launch. This is the final tank to be loaded during today's #VulcanRocket #USSF106 countdown. We have a green board with no issues being addressed by the ULA launch team. bit.ly/vulcan_ussf106

One of the most inspiring moments in human history NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong’s words echoed across the world #OTD in 1969 as he became the first person to set foot on the surface of the Moon. The culmination of years of united effort, the Apollo 11 Moon landing remains a testament to our capacity to do hard things.

#GEM63 solid rocket booster burnout and jettison is confirmed for the #AtlasV 551, having consumed a half-million pounds (227,000 kg) of propellant to augment the initial liftoff thrust. The launch vehicle continues towards orbit on the power of its main engine and will more than triple its speed in the two minutes remaining in first stage flight.
