San Francisco, CA (DEC.20.2025)- No end in sight. Let’s explain what’s happening here - The Waymo vehicles are not shutting down due to a loss of cell service but they may have a full disconnect from remote supervision support. During freeze events, remote supervisors are often able to route select the vehicle back to a functioning course. We continue to wait for updates from inside some of these vehicles where we know there were trapped passengers. We don’t know if the trapped passengers were able to make audio contact to Waymo support to get the doors unlocked. As far as the vehicles stranding themselves; we have seen repeatedly, month after month, that any Waymo that approaches a power outage stoplight (that is either blinking or dead) causes the vehicle to freeze. As additional Waymos approach, they will pass the first Waymo and then block the next lane. This will continue until the Waymos block every lane. It almost appears to look like a well choreographed terrorist attack. But it’s just the single simple failure of the Waymo not being able to pass through a power outage intersection. Tonight, the situation compounded through major sections of San Francisco. We have repeatedly reported on this problem and posted videos regularly of Waymo not being able to get through power outage intersections. It will be fascinating to see if Waymo claims that they did not know about this problem or if they magically have a software update to instantly fix this problem. Hint- they don’t. And yes, they’ve known about this problem for years. The entire situation is a nightmare for Waymo’s planned operation in dozens of new cities next year. Will this blow over? Yes, eventually. However, this is a strong reminder that there are plenty of issues not being addressed through Waymo’s software and hardware suite that should be fixed before they continue scaling.

Congrats to @elonmusk, who will receive his $56 Billion 2018 pay package after Delaware supreme court ruled so. The pay package is now worth a WHOPPING $140 BILLION! Poor guy. I was worried. I mean his current $600 Billion net worth was only ~$350 Billion higher than the #2 world's richest person. He was close to losing his top spot! What's to motivate him to keep working now, you ask? Oh don't worry! $TSLA shareholders approved an additional $1 Trillion pay package on top of this one for the future, because why would someone be motivated by just a 13% stake of a $1.6 Trillion company? By the time the $1 Trillion pay package comes to fruition (if it does), he should have a net worth of ~$4-5 Trillion between SpaceX and Tesla alone. 🤣

To make the math simple, the car on the left is $25k. The car on the right is $150k. That said, the key question in my mind aren’t the design choices each made but how regulators will frame their expectations to have a robust, safe fully autonomous fleet in their city. I suspect, initially, they start with licenses for both. And as they collect data it will be incumbent on Tesla to show their error tolerances are as good or better than Waymo. Otherwise, it creates a lobbying opportunity for Waymo to convince regulators that increasing the BoM helps increase safety for pedestrians and other drivers. And, as such, their design decisions should be mandatory. This is the obvious risk. That said, what’s non obvious are the other players who may push for Waymo simply to create a large capital barrier for entry and a much slower payback period. More generally though, autonomous driving is an incredibly relaxing and increasingly effortless experience. Going from stressed out driver to relaxed passenger shouldn’t be under estimated. I drive my Model Y in autopilot (or FSD mode) all the time - I always get confused which one is which. Anyways, last week I also took a Waymo 4 times. Both are marvelous feats of engineering.

@hamids XPang also recently concluded that cameras only is the way to go and removed Lidar from their cars so....

Why are $TSLA people so anti LiDar!? I’ve never met a more closed-minded group of people in my life! Here are the facts: 1) Waymo has the best self driving record on the planet. And they use lidar. 2) Elon made the decision to eliminate Tesla’s radar and rely solely on vision about 5 or 6 years ago, prior to the new AI neural net approach to the system. Back then, the concern of “what do you do if the sensors tell you to do different things?” was a legit concern. Today, “sensor fusion” is how the input is translated by AI systems, eliminating that concern. The analogy is that additional sensors, like your ears, augment your brains ability to drive even better. They don’t make it worse. Nobody asks “what if your ears tell you to go and eyes tell you to stop” 3) if you’re waiting for Elon to admit additional sensors COULD be helpful, that might never happen because there are millions of Teslas on the road without additional sensors and he’s been selling FSD based on vision-only for a long time. His only option is to double down and make it work with vision only. And I believe he’ll be able to. But that doesn’t mean additional sensors are bad.

HW5 is completely different design than HW4. Tesla is ditching the current chip design. Tesla literally disclosed it in the call. conclusion: In other words there is no autonomous driving with the HW4 asics computer. Nobody ditches a Hardware architecture that worked. $tsla

@GerberKawasaki Do you think it will be hard to get investors to focus on Cabs and robots... I don't. They are the future and anyone with half a brain knows they are what you should be focused on... Do you not agree? Everything else is just fine. Your the one trying to spread FUD for no reason

We expect lots of "future" talk to try to get investors to focus on Cabs and robots so as not to look at the deteriorating EV business. The FSD come to Jesus moment is coming soon... if they don't get to level 4-5 this year then what? $tsla

I don’t get monetization checks. I don’t make money from demonstrating that Tesla Full Self-Driving is dangerously defective. You do. It costs me millions of dollars per year to expose Elon Musk’s torrent of lies to customers, shareholders, regulators, and the public.

@RealDanODowd @Tesla @elonmusk Dan at this point you have to at least give me a cut of your monetization cheques.

@GerberKawasaki Maybe your not paying attention... The previous litigation is about to be reversed because it was BS. Move on Ross... FYI: Investors are not stupid like you insinuate... We know what wonderful things are ahead for Tesla. We are lucky to have Elon to take us there.

Obviously the pay package thing is insanity. Did anyone on the BOD actually negotiate with Elon? I doubt it. Sadly this will only lead to more litigation if it passes. The tesla BOD is still not "independent" from Elon... another mess coming. $tsla
