The wait is over - Spaceport is back for its second edition! Happening this Friday, this exciting event brings together creative minds and innovators to shape the future of digital creativity. Looking to learn, connect, or be inspired, #Spaceport24 is where you should be!

Designers, “Graphics guys", Photographers and Digital Artists need to be SEEN! Thank you @SpaceportAfrica for a milestone event that spotlights creatives, innovators and entrepreneurs. I was part of a Panel alongside @ivansewajje, @LoukmanAli and @RachelAthieno. I shared on how media is a tool to drive a positive narrative for digital creatives. Fostering collaborations and creating linkages in the creative economy. Some of the key points: 🔸 ⁠Media is a platform to amplify creative voices and get them in front of a bigger audience. 🔸 ⁠Strategic media partnerships can be a game changer in getting work seen and building long-term sustainability in the Creative economy. 🔸 ⁠Generally, I encouraged young designers to be loud about their works and maximise social media, AI and their communities to grow their gig base. The most exciting part? These are young creative professionals taking the lead and pushing for such a forum. It’s almost like they’re doing for others what they wish someone had done for their younger selves. @SpaceportAfrica might just be the door young creatives in their teenage years need to spark a revolution in Uganda’s creative industry. To the team behind SpacePort - well done. I wish I could tag you in this post. My younger self thanks you.

Uganda has incredible talent and inspiring voices, but there has always been a disconnect between the older generations and the younger, upcoming ones - partly because most young creatives don’t follow the traditional educational system like before. This makes it much harder to find them in one place. That’s why initiatives like this are so important. The younger generation doesn’t always know who to look up to or how to connect with mentors they can emulate.

Young Ugandan creatives are making waves! Something happened in Kampala at the start of the weekend - and I’ll tell you why I’m so excited about it. A group of young creatives came together with a vision to gather a generation of young creatives to listen to a carefully selected panel of maestros in their craft. This event took place at MOTIV, on the afternoon of the 22nd of November. @SpaceportAfrica @UgElevate @arudemcreators @nextmediaug @nbstv @AgandyStudios

Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to @SpaceportAfrica because I had an incredibly packed day, but boy oh boy, was I excited. Not just because I really wanted to hear the speakers (no lie, they had an amazing panel! It’s a blessing to have that much talent in one room together) or because I wanted to network - who am I kidding? I’m introverted, and I sweat at the thought of networking. But it was exciting to know there’s a space where young creative individuals can go and feel like they belong, somewhere that isn’t just a Facebook group or an X feed.
