over the last 2 months ive watched basically nothing but Westerns. theres so many excellent ones but for me id say these 4 films is where the genre peaks

Has pretty much everything you'd want in a blockbuster while also being completely unashamed of its roots and so infectiously excited to be itself. There is such a giddy energy to the whole thing, every scene has one memorable formal choice or another. Just an absolute gem.

not that I have to clarify this but I acknowledge that Mel is an absolute crazy person and I wish someone else was doing the film purely based off of my own views on him but lowkey if this is Passion or Apocalypto Mel…it’ll be good

The Bible comes off as very vague when it comes to what happened in the three-day period of Christ’s death but if Mel & Randall Wallace did their biblical research and actually read Luke 16, Ephesians or 1 Peter, there is some gnarly stuff to show in this film.
