Day 25 of lf posting until a new kreutz comet is discovered, hopefully it won’t be long. This video here shows kreutz comet C/024 S1 that disintegrated in late october 2024 a few days after C/2023 A3’s show. The view is from CCOR-1 background-substracted imagery.

Day 22 of posting until a new kreutz comet is discovered, hopefully it won’t be long. Here’s mirrored video of C/2025 R3 to resemble C/2023 A3’s path in CCOR-1. Truly a MASSIVE difference, panSTARRS is nice but tsuchinshan was on another level and a comparison is not fair

@TamithaSkov “yesterday on HF, D-layer absorption was unusually higher than expected. The 40m band was practically closed despite the heavy flares were 2 days ago. Is there still stuff in transit or other activity keeping the ionosphere unsettled?”

Revenge is sweet! Despite the Sun's best efforts to obliterate PanSTARRS Comet (C/2025 R3), it is now upstaging the Sun by photobombing Earth-based coronagraphs amid all the big flare and solar storm launches over the past several days. Even celestial bodies have their rivalries! Meanwhile, we could get a bumpy ride from a glancing blow from a solar storm today. Only minor effects are expected.

Bye bye comet C/2025 R3, it was nice following your journey across CCOR-1! The comet has now left CCOR-1 FOV and will soon leave LASCO’s too. Although it was still a nice sight, had it been more dusty, we would have witnessed an even greater show, that’s for sure. Thank y’all🙏

COMET C/2025 R3 UPDATE: It is halfway through CCOR-1 and LASCO’s FOV and it will be exiting tomorrow. As expected, forward scattering enhancement has been limited by the lack of substantial dust release. It will probably be back at mag 4 by the time it’s visible again in the SH

WHAT A NICE SIGHT OF C/2025 R3! The comet has also entered CCOR-1 (background substracted) imagery* which i particularly like and it looks quite nice! If this comet weren’t so dust poor the view would be even better… *LASCO takes a while to update and is not as constant anymore

HERE IT IS, COMET C/2025 R3 HAS ENTERED LASCO C3 FOV AS EXPECTED. It looks decently bright, waiting for more imagery to be updated later this evening.

COMET C/2025 R3 ENTERED STEREO-A HI2 FOV On the 18th comet C/2025 made its appearance in HI2 imagery showing nice tail structure and tail disconnection events, beautiful sight! I’ll try to post a GIF as soon as i have some time to download all the frames.

Day 9 of posting until a new kreutz comet is discovered, hopefully it won’t be long. not comet related, but a satellite (possibly a stage from a chinese mission) reentry was observed earlier today (3:44 UTC), as this video from southern Italy shows.

Day 8 of posting until a new kreutz comet is discovered, hopefully it won’t be long. This is comet C/2025 R3. Vivid green that makes it obvious to spot it in the frames. I’ve looked through many webcams, but this is by far one of the best view (clouds limit the others a lot).

Btw a new kreutz fragment was visible in CCOR-1 imagery yesterday (April 11th) and has likely already disintegrated, but maybe it made it into LASCO C2 FOV. This one was fainter than the previous but still relatively bright and a nice sight.

Day 7 of posting until a new kreutz comet is discovered, hopefully it won’t be long. Wanted to spot C/2025 R3 (PanSTARRS) with my 11x70mm but the weather definitely had other plans…

Day 6 of posting until a new kreutz comet is discovered, hopefully it won’t be long. This is C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan–ATLAS (not a kreutz obv) from CCOR-1 which i particularly like. An incredible comet, with an insane tail. Will we get another one like this soon? one can only hope…

Day 5 of posting until a new kreutz comet is discovered, hopefully it won’t be long. Here’s a pic from JWST observation of comet MAPS on feb 7th, same frame just different color layers. Mind you the comet was around mag(+) 15/15.5 when this was taken.

The small kreutz you might have heard about today has now entered LASCO C2 FOV and is approaching the sun, although it may disintegrate anytime now.
