@MeanwhileInUA Except this means that the target can track drone location starting very early on and prepare to intercept them. Conventional employment would keep them out of sensor coverage as long as possible to avoid this.

Ukraine may have found a cheap way to give a drone extra range. Let a balloon do the first 42 km. ㅤ Ukrainian troops reportedly tested launching the Ukrainian-American Hornet one-way attack drone from an aerostat. The balloon carried it 42 km and released it from 8 km altitude. ㅤ The drone used only about 5% of its battery before beginning its own flight. ㅤ The trick is simple: the balloon provides distance and altitude, while the drone keeps almost all of its battery for the real mission. If proven at scale, it could push Hornet’s estimated 100–150 km reach by another 1.5 to 2 times. ㅤ This is what Ukrainian defense innovation often looks like: clever ways to stretch what already exists. ㅤ

It's the same question virtually all politics revolves around: who is "we"? How do we define "us" and "them"? Along which axes do we make that division? Race? Location of birth? Religion? These choices set the table for ingroup vs outgoup conflict forever after, and it's only downstream of this decision that can we argue about the "best" methods to benefit the polity, because all decisions are imperfect tradeoffs that benefit some and injure others. It's what the conflicting moralities of nationalism vs. collectivism/communism hinge upon: nationalism establishes geographic and political boundaries to define "us" where communism is an attempt to erase ALL "in-group" boundaries as a means to expand power. In your PHM example, Grace's decision tells us he considers the Eridians to be part of "us" and therefore equally worthy of his risk and sacrifice.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: The book and the movie "Project Hail Mary" are about Gad Saad's Suicidal Empathy concept. Think about it--Grace abandoned a surefire way to save humanity in favor of a much sketchier method (The Beetle probes) so that he could save the Eridians instead. The only worse thing he could have done was import a few million illegal alien Eridians to take over Minnesota. ************ (I don't actually hold this opinion, I REALLY like the movie, I'm currently reading the book, and I actually think Grace made the rational choice, but it's an interesting thought experiment nonetheless IMO.)

On this day 13 years ago, my only son was sworn in to the US Army. In ten days, it will be 12 years since he was killed in Afghanistan 2 weeks before he was due to come home. He was just 21. This week is also Memorial Day. My greatest fear now is that he will be forgotten. Please help me remember my boy during this tough week of special dates (share if you feel inspired. It never gets easier but the love and support always helps. ♥️🇺🇸 Jacob H Wykstra KIA May 28th, 2014 Maruf, Afghanistan Jake was a Christian, an athlete, a patriot, an artist, dog lover, a friend to all and the funniest, happiest guy in the platoon. It breaks my heart that I see some of this loss of confidence in my wife lately as we move into our mid 50s. The irony is that I find her every bit as beautiful today as the day I met her. She is radiant, and time will not ever take that from her. It's comes from who she IS, not how she looks. Everything she has sacrificed, every time she has stood by my side through thick and thin. It makes her so beautiful to me, in a way I never could have expected as a younger man. And not in some stupid, artificial way that a husband feels obligated to say about the woman he loves. It's real, and it stirs things in me that I pray she understands... Thanks for posting this, and thanks for everything you do.

When women’s faces age, what they miss more than the smooth skin of their youth is the confidence they felt with it. Pro tip: You don’t need that one square foot of skin to be smooth in order to exude confidence. Just do it. No one can stop you. @FACE_the_book

And the proper follow-up question is why was she doing that? People don't harvest votes for their own petty crime - nobody can amass enough power doing that on their own no matter how hard they try - this only makes sense in the context of it beoing a larger and more organized effort with real goals they need to sway the election to achieve. This is the metaphorical tip of the iceberg.

Let’s say Caleb Williams throws for 4,200 yards in 2026. That’s roughly 250 more than last year. Here’s what I think the receiving yard split roughly looks like: • Burden: 1,100 • Loveland: 900 • Odunze: 800 • Kmet: 350 • Swift: 250 • Raymond: 225 • Walker: 225 • Monangai: 125 • Thomas: 125 • Roush: 100

The ethical and correct way to do this is to drastically lower ALL immigration immediately and to establish firm criteria for the small number who are allowed to immigrate that are based on their potential to positively contribute to our society. Targeting a specific race or nationality is just another form of discrimination. We can do this the right way without stooping to that.

While I hate this, part of the problem is that people of the left have lost all belief in real, altruistic government being possible for the benefit of people. Their world is nothing but dysfunction and corruption, so they project that reality onto their vision of what is (and isn't) possible in the future. They simply don't believe that a Republican would/could be any better than the people scamming them now, so why bother? They think everyone must be like them - morally bankrupt and self serving. And to be fair, they've often had a point - neither party exactly has a corner on the corruption market. Still, they'd be worlds better off if they would open up to the possibility of actual change and ethical, functional government. They'll never get that if the Democrats have no incentive to even pretend, let alone try to give that for real.

An example of Democrat geofencing: You have cities like Baltimore, my hometown, where the last Republican elected Mayor was Ted McKeldin, who served from 1963-1967. ONE TERM. MY PARENTS WERE STILL LITTLE CHILDREN. Baltimore has been a city of ONE-PARTY RULE for DECADES; a city where the Democrat Primary...IS ACTUALLY THE GENERAL ELECTION. There has NOT been a serious Republican Party challenger for the Mayor's office in the near forty-four years I've been on this earth. There are fourteen members of Baltimore's City Council. NONE are Republican. There hasn't been a Republican member of the Baltimore City Council...SINCE 1939. ALL of them are managers of controlled decline; from the complete disappearing of Baltimore's steel industry, to the redlining and block-busting that kept certain neighborhoods shambolic IN PERPETUITY, to the dilapidation of the now-VACANT Harborplace and the Gallery. And now, the crime is getting so bad, it's spread to prime shopping areas IN BALTIMORE COUNTY, like Towson Town Center, because it's apparently racist to lock up wilding, thieving shithead teenagers who keep stealing out of stores in the mall. THAT is what ONE-PARTY RULE does. And even though you're based in PA, Malcolm Kenyatta, you are a small part of the Machine that's orchestrated it all. As such, you disgust me.

Shut your bitch ass up. Black people have been objectively LIBERATED from the Democrat Party Machine's VOTE CATTLE plantations, aka "majority Black Congressional districts." Your party geofenced our people into zones where the ONLY choices ever allowed on offer were of DEMOCRATS. Plantation overseers masquerading as elected officials; and a slave-catcher class now comprised of loud, obnoxious Black women and self-righteous male cocksuckers like yourself have done NOTHING but manage the decline of our neighborhoods, cities and states under the rule of the Machine. Y'all got WAY too comfortable with full ownership of the Black vote after the Civil Rights movement, and now, Black people are FINALLY free to make decisions FOR OURSELVES; to choose who WE want to align with instead of allowing professional-managerial class Democrat porch sitters to dictate who we vote for. The "New Jim Crow"? Nigga, you were ENFORCEMENT FOR THE NEW JIM CROW. And now, for the first time in nearly SEVEN DECADES, y'all are gonna have to COMPETE for power, instead of taking it for granted. May the odds ever be in your favor, homeboy.
Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta@malcolmkenyatta

The new Jim Crow will be defeated like the old Jim Crow. We were tired then, but not defeated. We are tired now, but we will not be defeated. Weeping may endure for a night, but the morning is coming.

If I were King of Star Wars for a day I would be direct with fans and say we are moving forward on a new timeline that redacts everything but the original Trilogy. Call it the Star Wars B Universe. Acknowledge that the failed sequels and prequels hold back attempts to go forward "the right way", resulting in their elimination being the best solution.

It does feel gratifying to see that ten years after The Force Awakens opened---and everyone at Disney desperately tried to convince themselves that they had seen the future, that the movie was great, that JJ Abrams had done it, that a new iconic yet authentically SW trilogy had been launched, that Mary Sue, Emo Ren, the annoying orange robot soccer ball, the whiny black stormtrooper, the washed up boomer versions of the original stars were awesome-- that finally Disney and everyone involved has finally surrendered to the truth: the most expensive misfire in Hollywood history that wasted a classic storyline.

This is a striking pattern among many prominent leftist leaders: they were overwhelmingly born into relative privilege. >Engels was born into a wealthy industrialist family >Marx was the son of a prosperous lawyer who enjoyed a comfortable middle-class life >Lenin came from a privileged background and his father held noble status as a high-ranking education official, and his mother was the daughter of a wealthy physician who owned multiple estates >Castro was the son of a wealthy Spanish landowner. He grew up on a large sugar plantation and attended elite Jesuit schools >Che had aristocratic ancestry, grew up with servants, and received a privileged education >Pol Pot was raised in a prosperous farming family with ties to the Cambodian royal palace. He attended elite French-influenced schools and later studied in Paris >The same pattern holds for the Fabian socialists in Britain. Figures such as Beatrice Webb, Sidney Webb, and George Bernard Shaw all came from comfortable backgrounds or married into wealth. They were openly described as a clique of bourgeois socialists, and the term “champagne socialists” was originally coined in reference to them Despite the rhetoric, the modern left has never truly been a spontaneous movement of the working class or the poor. It has more often been a movement of the haves against the have-mores. Led by the privileged, funded by the privileged, and aimed at reshaping society to suit their vision.
