🇺🇸 🇮🇷 A US Navy MQ-4C Triton reconnaissance drone crashed in the Persian Gulf on April 9. The drone was flying over the Strait of Hormuz and returning to Italy when it sent emergency code 7700, followed by 7400 indicating lost communication. It then rapidly descended from around 15 km to below 3 km before disappearing from radar. Estimated cost: $240 million, roughly equal to two F-35A fighters. This follows earlier incidents, including Iran’s 2019 shootdown of an RQ-4A Global Hawk in the same region.
