In 1785-86 CE, the combined Christian navies of Spain, Portugal, Naples and Malta attacked Algeria eight times. Each time they were repulsed and at the end, they signed a peace treaty in which the Kingdom of Spain had to pay 2.2 million pesos as war indemnity and ransom.





In 1775 CE, the Christian Spanish troops (28,000 armed men and 19,000 seamen and marine) attacked Algeria with the aim of subjugating it and spreading Christianity. However, they suffered a severe defeat in a battle that lasted for 13 hours & left 1,500 slain & 3,000 prisoners.
