The art for this game @Angelic_Kingdom surprised me with how good it looks. Very nice art style. I hope the combat animations are just as good!

@kateirwin I agree with you that game dev budgets have ballooned to ridiculous levels.
I also agree any game that *needs* players in order for the game to function is going to have a very bad time.
I suggest looking into Cambria @playcambria who had a player funded $1,500,000 prizepool

Stop making multiplayer crypto games.
Stop making crypto battle royales and multiplayer FPS titles. Stop making crypto MMORPGs.
Unless you're making them all AI-controlled bots OR have over $100M and a plan to market to mainstream gamers and somehow overcome the longstanding NFTs-are-bad sentiment, you simply won't be able to compete in this market for long.
Make single-player games with in-game shops, where the trading connects players. One player lists their sword from their home in Asia, and 12 hours later, another player in NA buys it.
GG EZ.
That way, a game's 10 whales can play from different locations around the world and don't have to be online at the same time in order for the game to function. Players with less funds also benefit from the single-player experience, too, because you're mainly competing against the game and yourself (feels less pay-to-win, you feel less shitty, etc).
Of course, single-player games (let's use Animal Crossing as an example, which is mainly single-player) can still drive plenty of in-game item sales (and therefore revenue).
AC has Nookazon, an unofficial third-party marketplace where players buy items from each other. Players buy those items because it's easier to buy items to complete a set than spend days (or months) searching around hoping they'll get the specific item they want randomly themselves.
Crypto games to the average (NA) gamer have a bad reputation and require substantially more money sunk in. Therefore it's a much much smaller potential player base to begin with. We know this.
Many US gamers balk at the idea of an $80 Mario Kart. Of course they're going to reject paying $350 for a single NFT. That's a dramatic difference. Spending expectations may increase over time, but it's not going to happen overnight.
More studios need to accept this reality sooner and adapt accordingly.
Crypto gaming is not inevitable. Fewer players in total for crypto games is inevitable.
We've already seen this multiplayer problem crush games like Grit (from Gala), where there simply weren't any players online and that, plus overly pricey NFTs, effectively killed the BR on launch. It had 10+ minute queues on launch for what was otherwise an OK-to-mediocre game (plus no marketing etc etc).
Nyan Heroes also recently said they didn't get enough players to keep going.
With single-player, ping is not so much of a problem. You can have a game that feels complete to the player without actually needing a lot of players.
So this was a good decision.

We have some big news to share! Starting June 26, 2025, Shatterline will be shifting its focus from online multiplayer to a single-player experience. Check details in Shatterline Discord: discord.com/channels/75070…

@BByyCCee @playcambria @cyberpunk I started off in season 1 solo and with no information 😄 then was able to dominate season 2 because of the open playtest beforehand and the wiki etc.

@playcambria just hit a Million Dollar cash prize pool!
This means they're adding $600,000 (+50%) more in non-cash prizes.
I've been playing this MMORPG all day and night
