I hope Coinbase's new branded stablecoins product gets expanded into indexed stables. I want to control my denomination into a mix of places I live, safe-havens I seek, and hedges I need. If I could design my own personal stablecoin, it'd look something like this: 40% USD 10% JPY 10% INR 5% THB 20% Gold 10% Nasdaq 5% Vanguard Total World Index And these are the features I'd want: - All the fx stablecoins would be backed by government bill yields. - All yields and dividends would recursively reinvest such that my coin would have its own distinct yield. - My personal stablecoin would be fully fungible on Coinbase. I would see all assets priced in it, be able to use it as my base trading pair, and could pay my Coinbase Card balance with it. - Taxes for buying/selling my stable would be automatically calculated for me. - My friends could join my stablecoin, and our balances would give us proportional governance voting power over the composition of our stable. - My coin would get rebalanced monthly to maintain the ratios. @brian_armstrong spoke about his interest in various inflation-indexed token designs a while ago but not sure if anything came of that. Custom stables could be crypto's version of an ETF designed for payments rather than pure investing. The core problem with such a product is actually using it which puts Coinbase in a unique position to implement the concept.
