and came to Okinawa in 1963,
before Okinawa was returned to Japan.
In Okinawa, a lot of people call it “Ender.”
Their most famous drink is root beer.
It has “beer” in the name,
but it’s not alcohol.
It’s a fizzy drink with a unique herbal taste.
Some people crave it every time they go to Okinawa.
And if you try it for the first time,
you might think,
“Wait… what flavor is this?”
But that unique taste is part of the A&W experience.
Curly fries.
Mozza Burger.
The A&W Burger.
Even the menu feels a little American.
Okinawa is Japan,
but it has a different history from the mainland.
