Today, I had the honour of holding a productive bilateral meeting with my Serbian counterpart, Honourable Zoran Gajić, Minister of Sport of the Republic of Serbia, in Belgrade, Serbia, as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between Botswana and Serbia in the area of sport development. Our discussions focused on identifying strategic opportunities for mutual collaboration and shared growth within the sport sector. Key areas of engagement included school sport development, sport science, exchange programmes, scholarships for athletes, coaches and sport administrators, as well as capacity building initiatives aimed at enhancing the professionalisation of sport in our respective countries. We both acknowledged the critical role that international partnerships play in advancing sport excellence, fostering youth empowerment, and promoting social development through sport and recreation. In this regard, Botswana and Serbia have agreed to work towards the development of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will formalize and guide cooperation between our two nations in the field of sport. This engagement marks another important milestone in Botswana’s commitment to strengthening international relations and creating meaningful opportunities that contribute to the growth and transformation of our sport sector. I was accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC), Ministry officials, and BNSC management. Today I signed the Energy Cooperation Agreement with my Botswana counterpart, Hon. Bogolo Kenewendo. We are looking to bolster our joint efforts to build energy security, expand our interconnectors and cooperate in the research and innovation fields.

@wabpan @spencermogapi @Adivasworldd Govt believes PR means having graduates from Social Science and Political Science is PR. PR thing its more of a technical business of relaying information in a simplified and acceptable manner to provide clarity. Its not as easy as calling a Presser/Releasing a statement.

@wabpan @spencermogapi @Adivasworldd Wabepo lets be honest Government must start engaging private PR Firms when there are disasters like this to manage the PR, Information. Currently the Ministry of Agriculture has lost the peoples sympathy and PR war. Most importantly the farmers sympathy

@wabpan @spencermogapi For EU and similar markets to happen we still need to step up our disease control measures. To contain any similar outbreaks, we have the expertise and we can use available resources to do it.

@spencermogapi @Adivasworldd No one will increase their “national” heard for no return. How will a farmer cover their expenses if they cannot trade? It’s simple economics. The drive to live exports was because the BMC monopoly was failing Batswana. The BMC had to step up to compete…

@wabpan @Adivasworldd We should give more strategic focus to growing the national herd. Exporting live animals to Sa while lucrative especially to feedlots, was in the long term unsustainable and even counterproductive. I suspect research will finger it as a part responsible for the herd depletion

@spencermogapi @Adivasworldd What do we do in the “meantime”? Think of FMD like any other epidemic. It transitions from the emergency state to us embracing it & living within it. We will not survive 2 years of movement & trade restrictions. The cattle industry will collapse beyond repair.

It’s time we embrace FMD as the new normal in BW. It would be very difficult to stay clean in the short to medium term when FMD is fully present along our borders. Forget the EU & focus on markets in line with our reality. Cattle farming is commercial & people have financial obligations. Trade must open.

@Adivasworldd @wabpan Getting a substitute for Europe will not be easy. The high prices they pay is not just an outcome of quality we produce but also the high entry standards they set and demand as part of their protocols
