The Calgary Police Service has charged three people with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the December 2025 fatal shooting of a man in the southeast community of Ogden, and a Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a fourth suspect who remains at large. The victim was found dead outside his vehicle in the 7000 block of 20 Street S.E. in the early hours of December 10, 2025. Two of the accused, Aken Bolakok Aken, 23, and Ayomide Opemipo Adeyinka, 21, are both from Edmonton. A youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is also charged. The two Edmonton men had initially been released after the December shooting before being arrested again on March 12, 2026, when Clearwater B.C. RCMP found them in a vehicle stuck in a ditch on Highway 5 near Blue River. Police are still searching for a fourth suspect, Yahya Abdullahi, 22, who is wanted on Canada-wide warrants for murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Abdullahi is described as 5’9”, approximately 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, and is believed to have connections to northern and western Canada, possibly in Edmonton, the B.C. Lower Mainland, or the Northwest Territories.

JUST IN: 🇨🇦 The Edmonton Police Service has announced that two men have been deported from Canada following a joint investigation into a violent extortion network targeting South Asian businesses in the city. The operation, called Project Al Extortion, was launched in 2025 with Alberta RCMP, ALERT, and the Canada Border Services Agency after extortion incidents began resurfacing in the spring of that year, following the conclusion of the earlier Project Gaslight investigation in 2024. Five suspects were identified in the Edmonton area. The two most significant, Arshdeep Singh, 22, and Sukhnaaz Singh Sandhu, 25, were found inadmissible to Canada by the Immigration and Refugee Board and deported in January and February 2026, respectively. Both were detained in November 2025 on grounds of membership in a criminal organization linked to extortion, arson, drug trafficking, and firearm offences. The other three remain under active CBSA immigration investigation, and police have identified an additional 51 suspects connected to the broader network. The extortion scheme operates through platforms like WhatsApp, with threats backed by arsons and shootings when victims refuse to pay. Police say the network is also recruiting newly arrived foreign students and workers as participants, warning that involvement at any level can lead to criminal charges and deportation. Suspects in this group are also linked to a Canada-wide warrant connected to a Parkland County acreage shooting last fall. Nationally, the CBSA has opened 372 extortion-related immigration investigations, issued 70 removal orders, and removed 35 people from Canada as of March 12.
