@AyoteTheGod @Julia_CaSsian To be fair, the tweet itself is phrased like a genuine complaint, with the thumbnail from the video being from the game, so I wouldn't say someone is a 'brainwashed bot' for taking it at face value just off that before watching.

Then those tests were done incorrectly. I've done this test myself and it was like night and day difference. I normally rip from CDs that I buy (I like ownership, not subscription BS) and using dbpoweramp I am able to choose what format I rip the CD to. Ripping to Flac I use no compression. To MP3 its already a very very lossy compression method (objectively one of the, if not the worst audio container in existence). I listened to the same song off the same CD ripped in 2 seperate methods. I listened to one, then the other, then took a break, flipped them, took another break and did a blind testing. Flac won every time, by far, easily. MP3 almost sounds distorted and a lot of the detail is drowned out. Its an almost hollow sound, especially if you have a decent pair of headphones. It was night an day. If you were arguing .alac vs .flac I would 100% agree, I legit can't tell the difference, but compared to Flac, mp3 is honestly pretty hard to listen to. So I call BS on those studies when I conducted this test myself. The "experts" here are just dumbasses who don't know the scientific method on how you test for stuff like this. I told you I love music. There is a massive difference in audio quality between the formats. I also noticed that you ignored your initial storage argument I already destroyed, so way to shift the goalpost. :) There is NO reason to not go flac or alac if you like apple.

Spotify just lost its grip. Someone open-sourced a self-hosted Spotify downloader that rips your entire library to your own machine. Permanently. As MP3s. With full metadata, album art, the works. It's called Spooty. You point it at any Spotify playlist URL and it pulls every track down to local storage. No ads. No subscription. No "this song is no longer available in your region." No algorithm deciding what gets quietly removed from your library next month. → Connects to Spotify's official API to read your playlists → Grabs high-quality audio for every track on the list → Tags everything automatically: title, artist, album, cover art → Runs entirely on your machine, your credentials never leave your control → One command pulls a full playlist down The whole thing is Python. Three steps to install. Clone the repo, install dependencies, plug in your Spotify API keys. You're paying $11.99 a month to rent music that disappears the second you stop paying. This builds you a permanent library for $0. 100% Opensource.
