@fitinglasses Real something there about how Britain's steady decline into isolationist and anti-immigrant notions ends with them being stuck in a glass case, a rather ironic fate considering their history with museums
English

Need someone to mod in Ferro-Lad into a sonic the Hedgehog cause he keeps doing this

Cleatus 🔻@CleatsThe4th
he's so cool
English

@fitinglasses London maybe? Feel like it needs to be a major capital city so it leaves a notable geopolitical difference once it's gone.
Also ironic twist on the "British Invasion"

@fitinglasses Genuinely the most he's ever pissed me off i really hate him like actually

What I think is really special about Action Comics #544 is how it highlights the shared poison among the three characters:
Their obsessions.

Before I go to bed I'm gonna reread one of my favourite Bronze Age Superman stories:
English

Shut the fuck up.
"Brainiac is not a good enough character" like you've fucking read any of his stories.
He's one of the most obvious and direct Superman parallels in the world you're genuinely just too stupid to make the easiest connection in the world.

Ozzy@offmodescarab
brainiac is not a good enough character to make so many posts crying about this
English

@D4hz4hn Brainiac is the biggest Superman villain behind Lex for a good reason, he resonates so deeply with the themes of Superman that he just naturally shines in any story he's in.
Except Post-Crisis but that's not exactly surprising
English

@SplitDaAtom Even when he's not the main villain he's the thematic lynchpin in stories like red son, space age and last days, as well as being the most agreed upon good part of Absolute Superman

Hot Take: If a character needs to die for your story to be good you are in fact, a poor writer.

@comics_strange And bringing Rich back, while may have benefited him, harmed Sam by pushing him into obscurity, and now he basically doesn't show up anymore.
I'd argue that's MORE destructive.
English

@comics_strange And who says character death HAS to be destructive?
Richard Rider had a great death in Thanos Imperative that had lasting emotional consequences and allowed for a character like Sam to thrive where he otherwise wouldn't have with Rich around.
English

@comics_strange Also this is still missing the point. Wacker at least in regards to talking about Richard Rider, clearly isn't talking about just character death for the sake of cheap thrills and stakes, it's more just talking about giving that character an ending
English

@comics_strange I haven't read Diggle DD so I can't speak on that, but even if it's been a while since I've read Superior, I can't think of an overly cheap character death in that. Like genuinely correct me if I'm wrong but most of the big deaths felt important
