What had assumingly stood for centuries, was wiped out in seconds.
The island stood untouched for decades, a sort of memorial for the statues.
100 years after the destruction, a small expedition ventured to the island, desperate to see if anything survived the bombing.

In the middle 1700s, explorer and historian Will Marston discovered what would later be coined the "Isle of the Amazons" would be discovered just off the coast of Turkey.
The island was named as such as it was populated with statues of the Ancient Greek people of the same name.

Lowkey the consequence of a large majority of people perceiving art as a vehicle to convey plot points, which is already bad enough for film, but gets expedited in a medium where storytelling is not, nor should it ever be the primary purpose, like video games

Morrison's Action Comics frequently gets flak for having a Superman that's "too edgy and grumpy". I get not liking the direction N52 took with the character, but that has almost no effect on the characterization of this run Look at this, hopeful without being preachy
