@MechaKittn Everyone has already told you the important stuff, but here’s a tip! Wind and Earth come out fast enough to cast while moving, so if you need to dodge things you should use those. Fire takes a second to come out, so you should be sure you have a sec when you summon it

Question: Am I supposed to just cycle through the summons in order or use them on enemies weak to that element like in other RPGs? (Earth strong against Wind, etc). How do I know an enemy's elemental type?

I recently picked up FFXIV and golly gee is it fun. I’m just a ranged dps so I don’t have to interact with most actual mechanics; I have so much respect for any and every tank/healer I meet 💀🙇‍♀️ #ffxiv

@KainYusanagi I know some stuff probably appeared earlier, but i’m such a noob to mmorpgs i failed to notice until much later lmao like the painful edges of the battlefield probably appeared earlier too

@SpookyActivity WAIT YOU PLAY WITH EVERYONE'S FX ON?? 😭😭😭 iirc it should be in Settings > Character Configuration > scroll down Characters tab! I usually have only my FX to be Show Full, and Show Limited for party, and off for others

@catterwaulies They aren’t! The only one ive done besides alexander is the one where you help soroban out with all the animals! I decided to wait to do harder content like that till i catch up on story stuff :)

@SpookyActivity Still haven't found a mitigation for emotional damage and the subsequent sobbing; I'll let you know if I ever find one

@SpookyActivity When I did my brief stint of high-end raids/trials, screwing around with the HUD saved my life; I split the action from target (a boss for example) from their name and hp and make it bigger and put it in the middle of the screen so it's impossible to miss lmao

@lilliamain_ I also feel pretty unobservant to things that arent actively hurting me so it’s really likely i didn’t notice until mechanics started forcing me to the edge of the stage 😂 i do not consider myself a very talented player since its my first mmorpg

@SpookyActivity I always hugged the bosses early on cause I was playing NIN so I needed to do my positionals. It wasn't until lvl60 when I swapped to DNC that I was actually able to learn boss attacks by watching from afar. The i swapped to RPR at 70 and had to hug the boss for positionals lmao

@lilliamain_ They probably do earlier, i just didn’t notice it until then! SB was also the first time i fell off a stage, so maybe i just naturally stay closer to the boss than some people?

@SpookyActivity God do the edges really start being hurty in SB? I didn't realize they did that that late in the game

@pepppermint_Tea @kingarthas21 Ohhh that does sound helpful when you put it like that! I’m still getting used to clicking all my little dps buttons in order while keeping an eye on the boss’s telegraph animations and watching the ground!

@SpookyActivity @kingarthas21 running as healer for a first run i think is very helpful, you can stand on the backlines and not have to worry about damaging the boss as much. You have to figure out the mechanics because your DPS and tank are going to get hit instead of you! You gotta watch them anyway so :D

@pepppermint_Tea @kingarthas21 That must have been quite the experience! As scary as it would be, i also think learning a new fight with everyone sounds exhilarating, and i’m looking forward to getting into newer and endgame stuff!

@SpookyActivity @kingarthas21 oh yeah I run everything as whm my first time! SoS was certainly interesting, esp because me, the other healer, and both tanks were new to SoS. That LB3 mechanic wiped us and the DPS were confused before one of them clocked it and went "Wait. They're all new. Oh no."

@pepppermint_Tea @kingarthas21 Healer and tank mains are so much stronger than i am because the idea of going into SoS blind for the first time (and other such difficulty spike fights even just in msq) freaks me out 😭🙏

@SpookyActivity @kingarthas21 whm is definitely a fun class to do! and the storyline is real wholesome. also if you haven't seen it, there's cutscenes in shb/ew that change slightly if you go in as a healer class and i think that's neat :D

@FunnyWaterLady Ty for your service 🫡🙏 This is my first mmorpg ever so the idea of learning all that AND everyone’s lives being in my hands freaked me out 😭 i asked my tank friend what class i was least likely to get everyone killed with LMAO

@SpookyActivity healing is awesome because nobody cares if you get hit by mechanics unless it's enough to take you out, and tanking is awesome because you can't die unless you hit like 6+ vuln stacks

@eanulambul The first time i saw a tank LB3 (and had it explained to me what that did) i was like wow im so glad everyones survival doesn’t hinge on how well i time this LMAO

@SpookyActivity op I dont follow u but this is rlly funny to me as someone that likes to play different classes whenever I see this as a dps/tank I'm like wow so glad thats not my problem rn

@Maya_FFXIV I am not smarter than a goldfish either my tank friend doing callouts was the only reason i didnt die in that fight (and all the other ones) many multiple times LMAO

@SpookyActivity I died at "Are you smarter than a goldfish" both figuratively and in-game because I am indeed not smarter than a goldfish. xD
