Aber ja, das sagt viel über unseren Fußballverband aus.

Gut zwei Monate vor dem Start der WM hat Ghana seinen Nationaltrainer Otto Addo entlassen. Das teilte der Verband GFA in der Nacht nach dem 1:2 in Stuttgart gegen Deutschland mit.
Für die Black Stars war es die vierte Niederlage nacheinander, zuvor hatten sie mit 1:5 in Österreich verloren. Der frühere Bundesligaspieler Addo war seit März 2024 im Amt gewesen.
"Der Verband dankt Otto Addo herzlich für seine Verdienste um die Mannschaft und wünscht ihm für seine zukünftigen Vorhaben alles Gute", hieß es in einer kurzen Stellungnahme. Addos Nachfolger werde "zu gegebener Zeit" bekannt gegeben.

Otto Addo was a small part of the problem. Nice guy, but he still had to go. A bigger part of the problem? Kurt Okraku. In his tenure youth football has been POORLY managed Our league ? not competitive Colt football ? dead.

Nothing has changed.. Kurt Okraku even seems to be pushing for a third term.

End the joke, @ghanafaofficial. Stop toying with the @GhanaBlackstars and their coaching matter. For almost seven years you continue to mismanage and mishandle the senior national team with overt arrogance and sadly with state ignorance or complicity. Otto Addo was a brilliant failure from the start. You set him up to fail and he sadly accepted the noose to hang himself and be part of the list of unbefitting coaches you have hired since 2019. For a budding coach who didn’t meet your own standards, how was he supposed to excel? His dismissal was only a matter of time. You go to the market to shop for poor coaches but you never want to accept responsibility. Pipe down. Cut the self-interest and show respect to all. No amount of player quality analysis will save the team. Focus on decision-making issues on coaching. That’s our bane. Get serious, GFA.

In March 2024, the Ghana FA set a five-pronged criteria to look for a coach. Per the criteria, only Sir Alex Ferguson and to some extent, Guardiola, Ancelotti and Mourinho etc could qualify for the role.
Then, they settled with Otto Addo, through man-hunt.
His first major task was to win AFCON 2025.
He ended up not qualifying for the tournament at all, the first time by Ghana in 20 years.
No manager in the world would have survived after such debacle. Yet, they gave him a vote of confidence.
It remains one of the most inexplicable administrative decisions ever made.
It was an error from the start.
