You want people who prefer to sit at the media center all day to keep shunning out reports? Wa kpe n mbe ooo. 😂😂😂😂
Olamide Abe@MrJoyoung

The NSC funds all the Nigerian team going for international events, including the so-called independent NFF who always run to daddy for every penny. Beyond supporting teams, the NSC also sponsors media coverage. At least five journalists including SWAN are funded and sent to all major event. At present, there are 10 NSC-funded journalists in both Gaborone for the World Relays and Alexandria for the African Wrestling Championships. On paper, this should guarantee strong coverage and steady updates but in reality, the output has been poor. The presence of funded journalists has not translated into meaningful reporting and visibility. This is where the real problem lies. Funding without results is wasteful. What should have been a commendable effort is now being undermined by a lack of apathy and delivery. I think at this point, it is not just the federations that must answer questions. The journalists, team officials, delegations and entourages benefiting from public funds must also be held responsible too. If they are present and resourced, then there must be clear output because you are bankrolled with tax payers sweat. If not, it becomes difficult to defend the continued spending of public money on travel, allowances and estacodes when the sports ecosystem gains little in return. Nigeria (NSC) cannot continue to spend heavily on international trips while basic media coverage is still missing. That is not media support, it is waste.

Oga, rely on MOC for the Athletics. As e be say na wetin AFN sef dey rely on 😂😂😂😂 Then, manage wetin you see on “sho sho media” for other sports like Basketball and Wrestling. Your concern is very valid my brother. And it’s not just worrisome, but degrading Kojubelo.
Olamide Abe@MrJoyoung

It is unacceptable that the AFN, NBBF and NWF have remained almost completely silent while Nigerian athletes are competing on some of the biggest stages this year. Nigeria is competing simultaneously across the World Relays, African Wrestling Championships and WNBA tour, one would expect a visible media presence from the respective federations. Instead, there has been a glaring absence of basic coverage such as photographs, interviews and timely updates. In big 2026, it is not just disappointing anymore but also embarrassing and this failure is more troubling given that these bodies have media committees, most are even on ground at these events. So the question remains clear: what exactly are they being paid to do? In an era where digital communications define relevance, is it too hard for them to understand that media engagements are central to athlete visibility, public engagement and the broader development of sport? These media engagements are very simple. Take pictures. Record interviews. Share results. Tell the athletes’ stories. This is the bare minimum, don't fucking bore me with AI generated press releases. Kudos to independent media platforms and journalists that have stepped up with efforts to provide updates, visuals and context that keep Nigerians informed, despite often working with limited resources, yet delivering the coverage that the official bodies have failed to provide. The National Sports Commission also deserves credit with its updates and visibility efforts which has prevented a complete blackout, ensuring that Nigeria’s presence at these competitions is not entirely ignored. Without these efforts, there would be near total silence around Nigerian athletes and teams.

Feeling "Blue" in Gaborone, Botswana 🇧🇼. I am delighted to be back in this country, this time to cover my first ever World Relays. I am grateful to God for the opportunity, and in the same measure - I owe a debt of gratitude to @MakingOfChamps for entrusting me with such tasks. Hopefully, Team Nigeria 🇳🇬 will make us proud this weekend with many qualifications.

The real distraction is your selective outrage. Blood is flowing, una still quiet. Shame. 😭💔

@Afrobilli_ @BoganteJnr @KrypticKareem You get time. Person wey know wetin him dey do? Why did Sowore said he shouldn’t go to court? Na today Nigerians don dey carry themselves go court? Ask the jejune the reason why a pre-trial detention should be okay for a bailable offence?

@BoganteJnr @KrypticKareem That’s a non sequitur from what Sowore actually said. If VDM has a grievance, he should take Sowore to court for redress, not rely on police repression to lock him up

You’re still missing the point. If it was just VeryDarkMan vs B-Lord, that’s a private issue. But once it becomes the Nigeria Police Force (IGP) vs a citizen, it’s no longer personal; it’s a public matter. That’s exactly where people like Omoyele Sowore come in. You don’t stay silent when state power is involved. Calling that “showing power” just means you don’t understand what accountability looks like.
Femzy💫@Femzydr1

Sowore Brought this Disrespect Upon himself, I would never blame Verydarkman For saying He will Show Him, He should Have just let VDM & Blord handle the Situation By Themselves, But he wanted to show VDM that he has connections, & Power than Him, But Now See the End Result.

@Chude_ND1 Google "Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia" she was arrested and detained by the EFCC between 2016 and 2018. This has nothing to do with Sahara Reporters. They saw dollars in her house that time. VDM came online to praise her for having integrity; then people brought out her past.

Legal practitioners in the house, please, I need a better explanation. This interpretation by Blord’s lawyer isn’t clear enough. In what conditions does the judge recuse herself or himself from a case? Is it that she is completely uninterested in handling the case, or maybe there is an unofficial application to withdraw the case or a plea bargain to settle out of court?

@DonkBull74725 @marythesa @Chude_ND1 You don’t disturb yourself with people that run along with emotional tantrums over logic. One would think the Sowore people just fabricated the story. They want to distort facts, because it doesn’t suit them.

@Legit_White @larrizy @Chude_ND1 Can you wake someone who pretend to be sleeping? He just wanted to be clever by half. Did they just dig out the report? How does bringing out what’s in the news harassment? You labeled someone to have integrity, and they gave you prove contrary to your claim, it’s not blackmail

Uchenna Emedolu once told me a story of how he finished roofing his house in Enugu. At the time, Athletics was very lucrative in Nigeria, and Amos Adamu played a pivotal role why that was so, between 2002-2004. Construction engineers had given Emedolu a quotation of what the roofing would cost. He told them to give him one week, that he had a grand prix in Abuja that he was running in. True to his words, he returned from the meet and made a full payment for the roofing, completing his two-storey building from the money he had made - running in Nigeria. You see, there was a time Nigerian athletes were making money running here in Nigeria. Regularly, there was at least two one-day meets every year in Nigeria that paid athletes in $$. Athletes were competing in far places like Bauchi, and getting paid. Deji Aliu would return from Europe, and camp in places like Ilorin, then run a couple of meets in Nigeria. They were stars. Mobil glamourized the Nigerian trials. People might have a different view of Adamu, but he helped Athletics, especially in the lead-up to COJA 2003, and the few years after. The athletes made money. Now, everything has changed. For us to get back to those years, we have to pump money into Athletics, and ensure the right people are running it. I will pause here....
Rilwan@Real1_balogun

There was a time in Nigeria’s history when athletics was a big sport and athletes were famous. Now, everything don go south, yet the athletes are still top top. I grew up to know Uchenna Emedolu, Deji Aliu, Francis Obikwelu before he switched to Portugal. Olusoji Fasuba swept the Nigerian stars and conquered Africa too. I remember Obinna Metuh still coming at some point. And the women had Damola Osayomi before Blessing Okagbare. Never seen a country so blessed yet acting cursed before. Thanks to those who still make it count. @MakingOfChamps and people like @deji_oges and @Xtopherewesi who always give their time and energy to the course.

@BigKensyn Between the NBBF and the AFN, I do not know the worst run federation. They gatekeep information that should be publicly available and witch-hunt people that take it as a point of duty to strive and spread those information. A very sad situation we find ourselves in.
