It is unacceptable that the AFN, NBBF and NWF have remained almost completely silent while Nigerian athletes are competing on some of the biggest stages this year. Nigeria is competing simultaneously across the World Relays, African Wrestling Championships and WNBA tour, one would expect a visible media presence from the respective federations. Instead, there has been a glaring absence of basic coverage such as photographs, interviews and timely updates. In big 2026, it is not just disappointing anymore but also embarrassing and this failure is more troubling given that these bodies have media committees, most are even on ground at these events. So the question remains clear: what exactly are they being paid to do? In an era where digital communications define relevance, is it too hard for them to understand that media engagements are central to athlete visibility, public engagement and the broader development of sport? These media engagements are very simple. Take pictures. Record interviews. Share results. Tell the athletes’ stories. This is the bare minimum, don't fucking bore me with AI generated press releases. Kudos to independent media platforms and journalists that have stepped up with efforts to provide updates, visuals and context that keep Nigerians informed, despite often working with limited resources, yet delivering the coverage that the official bodies have failed to provide. The National Sports Commission also deserves credit with its updates and visibility efforts which has prevented a complete blackout, ensuring that Nigeria’s presence at these competitions is not entirely ignored. Without these efforts, there would be near total silence around Nigerian athletes and teams.

Sowore Brought this Disrespect Upon himself, I would never blame Verydarkman For saying He will Show Him, He should Have just let VDM & Blord handle the Situation By Themselves, But he wanted to show VDM that he has connections, & Power than Him, But Now See the End Result.

There was a time in Nigeria’s history when athletics was a big sport and athletes were famous. Now, everything don go south, yet the athletes are still top top. I grew up to know Uchenna Emedolu, Deji Aliu, Francis Obikwelu before he switched to Portugal. Olusoji Fasuba swept the Nigerian stars and conquered Africa too. I remember Obinna Metuh still coming at some point. And the women had Damola Osayomi before Blessing Okagbare. Never seen a country so blessed yet acting cursed before. Thanks to those who still make it count. @MakingOfChamps and people like @deji_oges and @Xtopherewesi who always give their time and energy to the course.

@BigKensyn Between the NBBF and the AFN, I do not know the worst run federation. They gatekeep information that should be publicly available and witch-hunt people that take it as a point of duty to strive and spread those information. A very sad situation we find ourselves in.
