@JimVilk The whole 70’s color palette would be good, especially with the true metallic blue pants. That’s such a beautiful color!

@NatalieEgenolf Sports talk radio as we used to know it is over. It's just not entertaining anymore along with the fact that they don't care about facts but more about fiction. It's sad for the people that knew the business the way it used to be.

@jordancicchelli Could put it at the US Hockey hall of fame in Minnesota, where it will be admired by their dozens of annual visitors! Phil described very well why that puck isn’t his. Just shows the difference between Canadian and American players. And that’s coming from an American.

The Tigers Cecil Fielder slides into home during Game 7 against Japan All Stars at the Tokyo Dome in 1990. The best-of-eight exhibition tour saw the All-Japan team defeat the MLB All-Stars with a 4–3–1 record. It marked the only time in ten attempts that they won the series👍⚾️

@PaulMayne6 The most joyless player I can remember. I once heard Gibby tell him to lighten up. I think that photo is the first time I’ve ever seen him smile.

@history_oh61180 I agree with every single word of that rant. They’re all copying bad swings and bad habits.

@SportsDIYguy That’s what made it great. Every arena on tv looked virtually the same by @EBischoff doing club la vela, Walt Disney World, Sturgis, even MGM Garden Arena for Havoc became iconic… they were special attraction spectacles !

@BobPagesports Did Emile tell you the story of how he used a George McQuinn model first base mitt to create the first goalie catching glove?

@IffyTheDopester I’m sorry, but I liked the racing stripes. The current road uniform is the best in baseball, but I really did like the stripes.

@Hebsyman @SiddallJoe @DannySpxp @KOAS1963 He’s Canadian for sure, but considering he was with the Tigers for a good while and a neighbor from Windsor, those of us in Detroit think a lot of Joe Siddall too! Very excited to watch on Sports et this year.

Huge congrats to @SiddallJoe for earning the coveted #2 chair next to @DannySpxp on the Sportsnet telecasts this season. It's going to be an all-Canadian TV booth, along with stats guru @KOAS1963. Looking forward to Joe's insightful analysis every game. #BlueJays

@PaulMayne6 To quote the great Super 70’s Sports….. by just looking at this picture you’ve grounded into a double play. They made it look so easy.

Trammell and Whitaker turned 1,527 double plays during their time together. To put that in perspective, that’s a double play every two games for 19 consecutive seasons … 😮👍⚾️

@shegone03 Im really tired of college coaches being some kind of almighty authority on all things baseball. Do people realize there’s a level above college with more games & much more intensity? I never cared to play in college, I always wanted to play in the Big Leagues.

@NCC_1755 @PaulMayne6 Ebbets was before my time, but I agree that there were a ton of Yankee Stadium setting cards. I can’t think of another NL ballpark that was as often used for card photography than Shea. There was always plenty of (way too much of!) NY photos in my card collection!

@SportsDIYguy @PaulMayne6 if I remember correctly, when topps was still based in NYC, most of the in game photography took place at yankee stadium, shea stadium and before that ebbets field. I don't remember county stadium being a backdrop! Love the ones that use tiger stadium.

@Jimfrombaseball Mouton also did Habs games. One day NHL linesman Ray Scapinello told him how much he loved the Boccabella intro. From that day on, Mouton always introduced him to the crowd as  Senor Raymonde Scap-in-ellllllllo.

“PA announcer Claude Mouton saved his very best intro for one of the original Expos, John Boccabella. Marshalling a level of enthusiasm you might use on a Hall of Famer, Mouton's greeting for the light-hitting, part-time catcher remains one of the most indelible memories for any old-time Expos fan. 'Le receveur, the catcher, numero douze, number twelve……………JOHHHNNNN BOCK-[extremely long pause]-a-BELLLLLL-a!!!'" Hero & Legend!
