We've all been there. This world is designed to suck our attention dry. Happens way too often for it to be funny anymore bruv. I came up with a brand concept for an App inspire by that. Had a call yesterday with @BuiltByAndy, who's not just a great designer but also an AI god. He showed me what he uses AI for and how many clients he manages with the help of it. Now I'm looking for ways for it to be my assistant. Crazy...

Your brand has a problem. And it ain't the logo. It's what it says. Or rather what it doesn't. Empty words on a pretty package. That's why nobody's noticing. Not because you're not good enough. Your brand is just a stranger in a nice suit made by some Italian guy with a mustache. Nobody buys from strangers.

I have no desire to be rich so I can buy a Lamborghini. I want to be rich so I can go to the gym at 10am on a Tuesday while everyone's at work. Sit in a coffee shop for 20 minutes where a bloke thinks I work in IT, and I've never corrected him. Walk my daughter to nursery at 7:30 and pick her up at 5. Play League of Legends at lunch and not feel guilty about it. Sketch on my iPad at the beach on a Wednesday because nobody's tracking my hours. Work from my living room in a stained hoodie and never commute again. Co-work with my business partner on Discord at 10pm because I want to, not because I have to. Or buy a 1999 Gengar Masaki vending machine card, ideally PSA 10 graded. That's my idea of rich.

Today we have 4 discovery calls, and I spent the whole morning making up a new proposal template. Bumped up the prices (because of demand), and not sure if you remember, but we will be rebranding @happypizzastdio. This year, either I will become homeless or build one of the best branding studios in the UK (maybe the world, too).

You may not want to hear this but it's the truth, and I'll always keep it 100 with you folks. Design has changed. You as a designer have to change with it. Companies asking for 10 years of proficiency in Figma is fucking dumb, the tool was never what gave you purpose as a designer. You're the difference maker, you create, you build, you redefine what's possible. I review countless portfolios, talk with countless designers and a constant issue I see is dependence on tools and not dependence on output. Just build shit. Ship it. Validate. Repeat. But the times are changing and you need to change too, or you will get left behind.

The reason I haven’t really been posting is because I got fucking scammed, on my very first business transaction too... I genuinely still cannot believe that happened. I feel nothing but shame and embarrassment and I just keep thinking, how the fuck did I fall for that? And the worst part is, it’s not even a scam in the most obvious sense. It’s not like some fake website or some cartoonishly stupid fraud. It’s an actual operating business that apparently sends invoices to newly registered businesses, basically preying on people who are new to all this, because this is something you have to pay, just not to them... It’s made to look strict, official, urgent, like something the government would send you, something I was expecting to get, just the wrong name. I did chargeback, but their whole business model is keeping the money they manage to get out of morons like me, so yeah, horrible past 2 days..

A brand that doesn't move the needle is not a brand. It's an expense. "Oh but what do you mean by moving the needle handsome muscular fellow" I hear you asking. Um idk... GETTING SALES? LEADS? ever heard of those? A pretty logo doesn't mean pretty numbers.
