I went to the Freedom Convoy because I believed it was the best chance we had to hold our government accountable for its actions during COVID. As a former soldier, I viewed the mandates, lockdowns, and related decisions as fundamentally wrong and ineffective at stopping the spread of the virus. The planning and execution were ill-conceived at every level, yet the government doubled down instead of correcting course. I also believed then, and still believe now, that the Convoy was lawful, appropriate, and protected under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In related proceedings, four judges have agreed with key parts of that position. In the end, this was never about fringe politics or noise. It was about ordinary Canadians insisting that rights still matter, that evidence still matters, and that government power has limits. The people were right, and history is catching up to that truth.

Four years ago I made a phone call to a Saskatchewan truck driver whose livelihood, and those of his fellow truckers, was being threatened by the Canadian government. I offered my skillset and my support. What followed could have never been foreseen. We watched an entire country come together, supporting each other, and pushing back against a government drunk on power. I shudder to think where we would be at present it weren’t for the courage and bravery of @ChrisBarber1975 Happy Convoy-versary Chris.
