Vishwaguru comes to Kerala & says, "UP is better than Kerala". He did not give numbers. So here they are. Lets start with the one that @RajeevRC_X likes the most - 1) Infant Mortality Rate (per 1000 live births): Kerala - 5; UP - 37 (contd...)

Delhi Police have filed an FIR against me. I had written about an FSSAI issue. I have already taken down those posts and am also removing many others. I already have too many things going on in my life. In the future, you may see me silent. I cannot handle this level of stress anymore. Thanks.

Nothing summarises the brain drain and severe indictment of research infra in India than this study by @Careers360. On a comprehensive study of 31 JEE toppers from 1990 to 2020 (31 years), this is what we found: A. 23 of the 31 toppers are settled abroad. B. 28 of the 31 toppers work for a non Indian company. C. 17 of them are settled in USA. D. In the 1990 to 2010 period, 7 chose to stay in India. However in the 2011 to 2020 cycle only one in ten stayed back in India. E. In a severe indictment of academic research in India, 19 of them went on to pursue masters and Phd(13), But NONE chose to pursue any masters in India. F. 6 studied at Stanford and 5 studied at MIT. G. 16 of the toppers chose IIT Bombay followed by kanpur and Delhi. However, since 2007, IIT Bombay is the preferred choice. G. While the initial years, 7 of them chose to be in academia and research, of the 2011 to 2020 period, no one chose academia and research. In fact, many chose to work in investment and hedge fund companies. So, not many stayed back. Not a single person chose India to study further. Just 10% work for an Indian company. engineering.careers360.com/articles/the-j…

Who controls the “source code” of food? As genetic data replaces seeds, countries in the Global South are pushing back against open-access rules, arguing they enable digital biopiracy. With new tools like blockchain and shifting alliances, the battle over food sovereignty is entering a decisive phase, writes Sarath Babu Balijepalli. downtoearth.org.in/agriculture/de…

Bill Gates is calling for biometric digital IDs to be tied directly to your bank account and payment systems so they can monitor your health, track farmers, and manage climate policy. That is exactly the kind of centralized control free people are supposed to reject. When your identity, your money, and your daily life are all linked in one system, you are no longer free. #wakeup

When Shankar’s Weekly started in May 1948, Shankar described it "fundamentally anti-establishment". Nehru was fully aware of Shankar’s sharp and unrestrained takes. Despite this, it was Nehru who himself released the first issue of the Weekly & famously said "Don't spare me!" Shankar made 4000+ cartoons on Nehru, most very critical including this in the pic. Nehru remarked on Shankar’s critical cartoons on him - "Shankar has that rare gift, rarer in India than elsewhere, and without the least bit of malice or ill-will, he points out, with an artist’s skill, the weaknesses and foibles of those who display themselves on the public stage. That is a service to all of us for which we should be grateful. For we are apt to grow pompous and self-centred, and it is good to have the veil of our conceit torn occasionally.“ Nevertheless, despite his relentless criticism, Shankar himself described Nehru as a “great man, a truly great man”. He also added Nehru often thanked him “for helping him spot his inherent weaknesses. He liked to be reminded that he too was mortal. Perfection is not for any man, however powerful and highly placed he may be. Nehru had the wisdom to realise that.” And this, too, happened in an India that did not yet call itself the “Mother of Democracy” but put ban on social media posts from a twelve year old child to comedians, Cartoonists, critics, journalists anyone who dissent. If this is progress then what the hell is decline? If this is Democracy what the hell is Dictatorship?

Our economic system is broken. Climate crisis accelerating. Inequality deepening. Public trust crumbling. Wealth concentrates while governments scramble to fix what markets can't do, rather than shape them from the outset. Presenting my new book The Common Good Economy live at @HowToAcademy—a reimagining of economics and a manifesto for a future economy that serves people and planet. How we achieve collective goals—through participation, reciprocity and reward-sharing—matters as much as what those goals are. 2 June | 19:00 | St Martin-in-the-Fields | Ticket link below

This candidate is just not fighting an election, he is showing us how it should be fought without the noise, the toxics, the pollution and addressing eco and climate concerns. Way to go @Chandyoommen. Hope the future of elections is this!
Down To Earth@down2earthindia

In Kerala’s most closely watched constituency of Puthuppally, there are no banners stretching across the roads, and no convoys amplifying the candidate’s voice. Instead, 37-year-old lawyer Chandy Oommen moves through the constituency on a bicycle, stopping at homes, speaking without a microphone, and leaving nothing to be cleared. @KAShaji123 on why this ‘green campaign’ is evincing interest in ecologically fragile Kerala downtoearth.org.in/environment/no…

@SwithinFernand3 @Sridhar67 @secularinc @RajeevRC_X Kerala has limited white collar jobs and no industries. IT park has 75,000 jobs but is not expanding. They move to Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. They have the highest wage rate in India so labourers from Bengal, UP, and Bihar come to Kerala.
