Flying the Commonwealth flag today as we join partners in 🇨🇦 and around the world in marking #CommonwealthDay. Celebrating 56 nations connected by shared values and a commitment to creating opportunities for 2.7 billion people.

The building in the image (right) was known as the Chewitt Building, which held the British Coffee House on the ground floor - the location where the Society was established. This building was later replaced with the Rossin House Hotel, and today the TD Centre can be found here.

DYK: The Society was founded April 23, 1834 (St. George’s Day) at the British Coffee House (King/York Street). It was estd by British expats who had gathered to celebrate England’s patron saint and decided to formalise their support network for new arrivals from England & Wales.
