@Karl_Uwe_Schmid Macrae is contracted, so he stays. I think there’s a few more who’ve reached the end of the road.

It’s pretty clear we need to go back to the well of draft and trading to elevate our competitiveness. Our delist pile will be large, but we need to improve our ‘bottom six’. And we need to do that quite cheaply. Time to look at what bargains are out there. Think there’s a few.

@jezzalenko7 No, Tom isn’t making it up. David Trotter is trying to orchestrate a move, one that will also net his client (and himself) a significant pay rise. And yes, Rowan does want to play as #1 ruck. But he also loves St Kilda and is under contract. All those things are true at once.

@StKFootball But if he's under contact then "technically" Tom's story is a fairy tale and RTB has called it out?

For background: It’s in the interest of both David Trotter (Rowan’s agent) and Tom Morris to build up a story. This generates content for Tom and generates leverage for Trotter. So they work together. I hate having to explain this each year, but it’s how the system works.

@uvmcda No, it’s very sensible to improve the list each year using strategically aligned additions. Delisted free agents have included Tim Membrey, Dylan Robertson, Mason Wood & Liam Stocker. MSD have yielded Max Hall, Cooper Sharman & Campbell Lake. This is about using intelligence.

@StKFootball Geez talk about throw the baby out with the bathwater. All of a sudden we need a pile of delistments…..and the only player you praise is Lake who is a bit part player a best. Good tackler, very few tricks. Pair him up with Sharman to try & teach him some intensity

There’s got to be talls out there who’ll give us more than Caminiti will at roughly the same price, for example. Campbell Lake a great example of somebody who cost us nothing, was playing VFL two months ago, and has already been FAR more impactful than several listed players.

The most terrifying stat of the night: Of the 10 players who led the Clanger count, 8 of them were St Kilda players. It’s a staggering differential.

In a third of his 18 matches this season, Cooper Sharman has been held goalless. That is so far below what we need from him and what he can do. Tonight was the year’s sixth strike-out for our #1 key forward. The whole game turned on his fluffed attempt in the second term, too.

@archerroberts9 Not as bad as Caminiti and Henry but there’s no question he’s not the player I hoped he would be.

The complete lack of anything from Caminiti and Henry tonight was alarming. Caminiti has gone backwards; doesn’t look AFL level. 3 disposals & was murdered. Failure to draft & develop talls is killing us. Henry had 6 disposals, 0 presence. Concerning. Like playing two short.

I think we can have an objective chat about it without the flame throwing and emotion that Ross Lyon attracts (from everywhere). Done a fine job of cutting and reshaping the list, but the lack of development in many is now a bit concerning. Game plan? OK. Poor skills? Worrying.

At the risk of copping flak. When does the heat come on to Ross Lyon? Another underwhelming performance on the big stage. Rinse and repeat. Happy to see some rational but intense internal scrutiny about it.

The humiliation of this resounding defeat will live long in the memories. Not often lost for words, but this performance marks a real low point of the season. We slump to 8-10, dropping a game we just had to win. Kangaroos could even get us next week. Your thoughts below 👇

We’ve been abysmal tonight. A dreadful first three quarters. The game we had to win has turned into a total nightmare. - No defensive accountability. - Zero potency in attack. - Killed in spread. - Inability to execute basic skills. The ritual humiliation here knows no ending.

The umpiring is that bad, it’s actually suspicious now. You genuinely have to wonder.

Marshall and Philipou miss two easy goals in the final minute to get us into the game. It was our window to get back in, but we just aren’t good enough to climb through. This is the one game we knew we absolutely had to win. Can’t quite believe we’re *THIS* bad, honestly.

It’s the lack of competitive effort that has been the most surprising so far. Have we won a 50-50 in the air or on the ground yet?

Season on the line for St Kilda - and we’re 33 points down midway through the second quarter. I can’t even begin to describe how badly we’re playing.
