This morning, the sermon was about Repentance. #repentance

𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐀𝐏𝐂𝐌 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 If you sit on a PCC or a faith-based charity board, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐞. That means 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 — not just a title. Too often, people step into these roles with good intentions, but little clarity about what’s actually required. It’s not “common sense.” Under the Charity Commission for England and Wales, trustees are accountable for governance, safeguarding, and risk. “Not knowing” is not a defence. After several successful pilot sessions, Guarding the Flock is now equipping trustees with the knowledge and confidence they need. On Mothering Sunday we give thanks for the Church called to be a mother: to nurture, protect and cherish her children. Where that calling is forgotten and her own are wounded, truth must still be spoken — and healing, for all, sought.

It is with great sorrow that I received news that the Rt Revd Andrew Watson, Bishop of Guildford, has died. Andrew was a man of deep Christian faith who lived his life in the service of Christ and others. In the face of death, he demonstrated a calm reassurance of God’s saving grace. Over four decades of ministry, Andrew made an enormous contribution to the life of the Church of England – and, through his concern for Anglicans and other Christians around the world, the global church. He was a gentle man and generous with those who held differing theological views. He will be greatly missed by not just his family and friends, but by the whole church. At this time of grief and loss, I hold Beverly and their sons and daughters in my prayers, asking that God would comfort and strengthen them. I pray too for Andrew’s friends, colleagues and all those whose lives he touched. May Andrew rest in peace and rise in glory. bit.ly/3Nf97yr

And here it is, the best one of all. A supposed Christian, an ordained priest throwing their toys out of the pram & attacking a parishioner through a weak PCC. Shocking behaviour, made even worse when the complaint was made against the PCC & they didn’t know how to handle it.
