St Peter & St Paul Primary Reception

Reception were intrigued to find out all about Chinese New Year celebrations today! 🏮 We got creative and made our own Chinese lanterns and practised a dragon dance 🐉 🇨🇳

Reception have been using a seesaw and balance scales to help us to understand that when weighing, the heavier object will go down and the lighter one will go up. @StPPPrimary

During Paths today, Twiggle introduced Reception to his Turtle technique to help us to stop, breath and think when we need to calm ourselves down 🐢 @StPPPrimary

During Maths Reception have been practising counting aloud. We revisited the 1 more staircase pattern when the towers appear in numerical order. @StPPPrimary

As part of Internet Safety Day, Techosaurus talked to Reception about how to keep themselves safe whilst playing online. We remembered his 4 important rules: Play kindly, protect personal information, ask for help and say if something worries us 🦖 @StPPPrimary

During our Understanding of the World today, Reception enjoyed learning all about Valentine’s Day celebrations ❤️ We enjoyed creating our own cards to give to the people who we love. @StPPPrimary

Today we had a visit from our Paths coach Lisa. We enjoyed a lovely lesson all about the feelings of being angry and cross 😡 We talked about how it is ok to feel these feelings and discussed what to do if we become angry. @StPPPrimary

We’ve absolutely loved exploring gloop today! The children used their fine motor skills to scoop, squeeze, and mix while investigating how this amazing material can be both a solid and a liquid. So much curiosity and messy fun!

This afternoon Reception continued our NSPCC Number Day fun with a dinosaur footprint hunt! The children searched for prints, put them in the correct order, and then enjoyed lots of exciting number activities. #NumberDay2026 #NSPCC #EYFS #EarlyYearsMaths

During today’s Ready Steady Write session, Reception took part in their very first ‘hot seating’ activity! The child in the hot seat did a brilliant job taking on the role of Nut the dog 🐶, and the rest of the class asked fantastic questions. Well done, everyone! 👏✨
