Three suspected #hantavirus case patients have just been evacuated from the ship and are on their way to receive medical care in the Netherlands in coordination with @WHO, the ship’s operator and national authorities from Cabo Verde, the United Kingdom, Spain and the Netherlands. WHO continues to work with the ship’s operators to closely monitor the health of passengers and crew, working with countries to support appropriate medical follow-up and evacuation where needed. Monitoring and follow-up for passengers on board and for those who have already disembarked has been initiated in collaboration with the ship’s operators and national health authorities. WHO thanks all those involved. At this stage, the overall public health risk remains low.

🚨ALERT🚨 Imminent threat of intercetpion against Freedom Flotilla Coalition boat only days after 22 Global Sumud Flotilla vessels were intercepted in Greek SAR waters. 4 @GazaFFlotilla (FFC) vessels reported a helicopter circling them at 19:27pm Palestine time. At 21:53pm Palestine time, they reported seeing 3 drones and one ship in the distance that had turned off its lights. Marine Traffic shows a US Lockheed Martin plane flew above the fleet shortly before. Some participants now report seeing boats and white lights behind the FFC fleet.

NEW: Police airlift a crocodile with the body of a 59-year-old businessman inside. Local police in South Africa say they suspected the crocodile ate the man after observing it from drones. They then shot it and airlifted it off. When they landed back on the ground, the crocodile was sliced open, and human remains were found. The remains are believed to be those of 59-year-old Gabriel Batista, who had previously been swept away in raging floodwaters. His ring was found inside the animal along with six other pairs of shoes, which authorities fear may belong to other victims. On Monday, Batista reportedly tried to drive over a flooded bridge to reach his hotel and bar, but he and his truck were swept into the water. He was then swept down the river, where crocodiles were waiting for prey. It is unclear if Batista was already deceased when he was eaten, but authorities believe some of his other remains may have been eaten by other crocodiles.
