Famous Staffa visitors
In 1841 John Muir Wood, an acclaimed Scottish musician and amateur photographer, toured the West coast of Scotland.
His image is likely to be one of the earliest photographs ever taken of Staffa!

Over on Mull we're running a series of #WinteringWell gatherings: a reason to get outside, make the most of available daylight and enjoy some company and a cuppa around the firepit. Last week we took photos to represent our best and worst aspects of winter.

Happy new year! Have you made any resolutions? One of ours is to learn more about corncrakes on our remoter islands using audio monitoring devices. You can also help by reporting anywhere you've seen or heard a corncrake here: tinyurl.com/mubexnh6

Here's a chance to practice your seabird survey skills. One way of estimating puffin populations is to count them while rafting on the sea below their breeding burrows. How many puffins can you spot in this clip? #NTSseabirds @N_T_S #ForTheLoveOfScotland

Summer memories from Lunga's seabird colonies, where one kittiwake parent is wondering why everyone else's eggs have already hatched. Staffa's seabird cliffs are a bit quieter in comparison, with no kittiwakes or guillemots to provide the volume!

Summer memories from Lunga. Guillemot chicks are known as jumplings when ready to fledge. A tense moment as dad encourages the jumpling down to where it must take a mighty leap off the cliffs, then follow him out to sea for paddling and fishing lessons.
