No arable farmer would routinely grow a crop if one third to a half of it died before harvest. And plants are generally accepted to be non-sentient beings so you don't even have the welfare issue as a driver.

The #Scottishsalmon sector isn't sustainable or Scottish. It undermines food security at home (their medication are toxic to marine life + fish shit destroys habitats) + abroad (wild caught fish/krill used to feed farmed salmon are a vital part of human + animal diets elsewhere).

After Trump and Witkoff trumpeted the alleged achievement of Russia agreeing to security guarantees for Ukraine, Lavrov says that Russia only agrees to guarantees in which Russia (and China) have a veto, as per the Russian proposal in Istanbul in 2022. That is, nobody is allowed to defend Ukraine from Russia unless Russia and China agree. Great progress all around.
