When I was around nine years old, my mother moved us to Florida, and I grew up in Lauderhill. I vividly recall walking to school each day, making my way from 56th Avenue to 55th, all the way to the overpass. Despite facing many challenges, I was determined to attend school, believing that as long as I held on to my status as an "A" student, I would have something to be proud of! Life was far from easy then, and even today, discussing those times stirs up deep emotions in me. I never imagined that I would one day be honored by the Mayor of the city I called home. A heartfelt thank you to MayorDeniseDGrant, Vice Mayor Martin, Commissioner Richard Campbell, Commissioner Melissa P. Dunn, and Commissioner John T. Hodgson for recognizing me with this proclamation
