Stan's M&D here. Sadly our darling boy went otrb 🌈 on Monday 💔💔. We shared 11 wonderful years with our gorgeous, kind, and gentle boy, and we are devastated that he has gone. 😭😭Hug your furbabies tightly (photo from holibobs last year). ❤️❤️🐾

Who loves a grey face? 😍 Meet Mew 🥰 She’s around 8yrs old, lovely and confident and spent years in a perrera. She’s great on a lead, perfect with other dogs and loving towards people. She should have been in a home years ago. Please share 🙏🩷

Thanks to Kerry we found out Kiwi is indeed an Irish greyhound and his racing name was Frankietheflyer born 2019. We’ve taken many Irish greyhounds this year and the sad part is most have leishmania now. We are looking for a home for Kiwi but it is hard now as Palomo is so bonded with him. Both can stay as long as they need but the lifestyle we offer is really for very old dogs plodding around. Not active dogs that need and deserve more. The right home will come in time ❤️ Frankietheflyer is now Kiwi pants!

Moon is a small quirky podenco looking for a home. She arrived to GDS at a few weeks old, maybe just days actually with her mum Luna. She was adopted but it didn’t work out and now she’s back looking for a new home ❤️ Moon returned with extreme resource guarding with humans going near her food. She’s improving on this and learning there is no dangers around whilst she is eating. However it will need to be continued with the adopter as this isn’t an overnight fix. We believe this will extend to other dogs near the food also. Moon was also diagnosed with myositis of the lateral extraocular which can be painful but we don’t believe is related to the food issue. That’s been treated and it’s a case of monitoring her symptoms which we can discuss with any potential adopter. Moon isn’t a cute pocket dog that likes to be carried around, she’s an adorable hunting dog that’s incredibly smart and loving but with a few issues. Dante - Dadz took mum to the hospital this afternoon. we know from her pain the infusions did not work they prescribed methotrexate & alendronic acid .She has to take them every week they don’t know if they will work. The NHS cannot fund a drug that would help her.❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Gala was rescued from the streets with a break in her tarsal. It was so infected at first it couldn’t be operated on. After a heavy dose of antibiotics the leg greatly improved and we never actually needed to operate. The bone fixed itself although not perfectly, it’s ok. Gala is a shy girl in the kennels but really comes out of herself once she leaves and goes for a walk. In a home she’s going to be going to be amazing especially if you have other dogs. Gala is 6yrs old and has been waiting a year now. Look how she changes out of the kennel.. it’s got to be we can find her a home 🏠🙏 Will you help by sharing? 🙏🏻❤️ She would be so grateful ❤️

Florence is a shy 3 legged Mali looking for a home 😍 She’s quite small so maybe a mix Mali and has a heart breaking story behind her. facebook.com/share/v/1LVUhR… Florence has really started coming on with people she recognizes and is totally ready for a home. She’s now 6.5yrs, last test negative for leishmania and is great with other dogs. She’s getting overlooked at GDS so let’s give her a share 🙏🏻❤️

Lupita is a pup recently rescued from the streets. We were told she’s about 6 mths old but her teeth seem a bit older albeit she’s tiny. We will have to get another opinion from the vet. People can get so fixated on an age but often it’s just an opinion and that can vary a lot from vet to vet, as much as 5yrs sometimes. What should be more important is getting the dog that fits best to you and you to them. Lupita doesn’t trust people very much and hides away when us 2 leggers approach but as soon as she sees other dogs she’s much happier. I’m sure this will change soon. She’s so sweet, she just needs time! Put needs a home 🏠 Plz share 🙏🏻❤️

Wedgy is a sweet boy that’s misunderstood a bit. He was at another shelter but had bitten likely to pain or an uncomfortable situation. As we didn’t know the reason we waited untill we had a space away from the kennels to put him so we could manage better. What we’ve found is he’s absolutely wonderful, incredibly loving, sweet, great on a lead and very gentle 🥰 He seems calmer as an only dog. What we did notice in the other shelter was he was a lot more tense in the bigger group of dogs. He seemed unable to settle. Wedgy would love to be in an only dog home or with one other calm dog. Whilst we do not believe he’s a biter by any means I guess it’s worth remembering in very stressful situations he might struggle to cope. This is the kind of dog that if you respect what’s comfortable for him you’ll have the best buddie in the world 🌎🩷 He’s 3.5yrs old and looking for a home. Please share 😍

Sooty has struggled in the kennels. He came in with Sweep a few years ago and luckily Sweep found a lovely home recently. Sooty was very scared on arrival but has come on lovely with his confidence. He’s also great on a lead. He is fine with other dogs but has been a bit grumpy in the kennels at times. Who could blame him. Sooty does have a stubborn Willy winkle that gets stuck outside of his home, so lube 😬 and helping that enthusiastic private part down below go home will be part of the job 🥴🧐😆 I’m sure once he’s in a home that will sort itself out as here is dusty and alot of sun. Sooty is 4yrs old and has been at gds for 2yrs. It’s time for him to leave .. please share 🙏 ❤️

Columbo has finally finished his heartworm treatment. He’s having a wee celebration and then would like a home please. He’s become a super confident boy after a tough start ❤️ Plz share 🙏🏻❤️

Cory & Melissa are two older small podencos that came from a terrible hoarding situation. Cory is around 10yrs and Melissa 7yrs (maybe older) and both were extremely unsocialized when they came. Both now enjoy walks, being with people and have come on in leaps and bounds. They are quite bonded and I think it will be hard to separate them. We had to move them from the kennels to the campo area as Cory figured out how to lift the drain cover 😬 Podencos eh! Maybe someone out there is looking for two quiet older podencos? They are quite easy, will just need time after a move. Please share 🙏

Winky here 😉 Winky was dumped by a hunter at another rescue with a serenely injured painful injury to the eye. The condition was so painful we were glad to help by taking him and operating to remove it completely. There was no way to save it. Winky is a different dog now without the excruciating agony that followed him everywhere. Winky is around 4yrs old, a big lad, super friendly and sociable with other dogs. He’s excellent on a lead but sadly also has leishmania as if the eye wasn’t enough. The leishmania is being treated of course and he’s looking for a home. Kidneys are fine. Will hunters ever take their dogs to a vet? Don’t they feel they deserve to be at least pain free? It’s absolutely shocking. Share for Winky 😜🙏🏻❤️

Tulip is around 4yrs old and really improving since being rescued from the streets. She was scared at first and whilst she’s still a bit shy she’s really enjoying being curious and getting to know people. She’s ready for a home 😍 Tulip for sure is more confident with other dogs, she might not thrive as an only dog in a home. She was part of a three trap rescue by Andres, incredible to get three in a trap at the same time. Come on, she’s beautiful, let’s get Tulip a home 🏠 please share 🙏

Ivory isn’t having an easy time. Her diagnosis of benign cysts are increasing in numbers, over 27 and are now growing on her eye lids😞 On Friday she’s have more tests done because not only are they growing but a few have opened up. The saddest part isn’t what her diagnosis will be, it’s likely that nobody will want to adopt her. Please tell us someone will see past the lumps that are benign (current diagnosis ) and will give her a loving home 🙏🏻 Ivory can’t spend the rest of her life in kennels due to her appearance. She’s an absolutely wonderful girl ♥️ More info soon…

Crepes is an adorable calm slow boy looking for a home 🙏🏻❤️ He’s not always slow… he can run like the wind but mostly he just plods around. He’s 4yrs old, super sociable, great on a lead, not reactive and ready for a sofa of his own. He’s good with other dogs and loves an ear tickle 🥰 Plz share 🙏🏻❤️ Let’s get him a home ❤️

Meet Praga 😍 Praga came from another protectora. She had waited there many years and then came to GDS in hope of another chance. Praga is 6yrs old and a bit shy. She had been reserved but then it fell thru so now she’s back for adoption. She likes being with other dogs, walks calmly but cautiously on a lead and does warm up to you nicely once she knows you. Praga doesn’t want to wait more years in a kennel. Can we plz share and get her a home 🙏🏻❤️

We are excited to announce that these ten galgos will be heading to Greyhounds in Need UK where they will be up for adoption.
