I can't kill you, but I can stop your blade. And I'll do it. Over, and over again until... We understand each other.

GTA 6 is so realistic that Rockstar added subtle stain details to Jason's shirt, which 99% players will never notice.

@SmolFang69 @pepel_klaasa @EVNFT You're the one justifying killing, while I have never even come close to a gun.
English

I’m sorry people. If you, by default, feel more empathy towards a masked guy with a gun, or a billionaire with a questionable reputation, than towards a mother of three children, who seems to have never harmed anyone in her life, I dunno. Maybe you need to go talk to your priest.

@Fullboat101 @IT_unhinged Yeah like, I know some people do want to learn, I've met a couple, but the vast majority just doesn't care at all...
English

@Starfall_Rondo @IT_unhinged You "guarantee" eh. I support thousands of users. Some, I agree, are inept at technology. Others can learn and take feedback well.
English

Someone just submitted a ticket asking why their laptop is running slow.
I remote in. They have 3 Chrome windows open with 60+ tabs total.
I close all but 5 tabs. Computer runs fine now.
I write in the ticket: "Resolved - Optimized system memory allocation and cleared background processes."
They reply: "Wow, thank you! What was wrong?"
I reply: "Just some resource management issues. Should be good now."
I didn't lie. I just used technical language to describe "you had way too many tabs open."
If I say "close your tabs," they'll feel scolded. If I say "optimized memory allocation," they'll feel helped.
Same result, better optics.
Also, they'll probably open 60 tabs again next week and submit another ticket.
And I'll "optimize" it again.
This is called job security.

@Fullboat101 @IT_unhinged I can guarantee you the moment you tell them they need to close tabs, they'll tell you they already tried and that didn't work. Then you explain it to them and just ignore 99% of what you said and do it again.
They don't want to learn, they just want to do the minimum effort.
English

@IT_unhinged This is called stupidity. User's need education and ways to self-help. It will make themselves, and hence the organization, more efficient.

Indeed. I could memorize books and take tests well, but everything really only clicked for me until I did my own stunts.

@PeterP_1985 @gerulis20 @MisterSpace3 I mean, "why going over 1080p?" is literally what upscaling wants lol
PC gaming has always been about using your hardware as best as it can, seaeching how to best run games. Be it a $250 laptop or a $5k PC. It's not about throwing money at the problem, that's a console's job.
English

@Starfall_Rondo @gerulis20 @MisterSpace3 PC gaming has always been about pushing the cutting edge.
Why not use upscaling tech to push more features?
By your logic, why bother pushing to 3d, wy bother going above 1080p, why bother with any advances at all.
Makes zero sense
English

People saying "unoptimised".
Native 4k with Path Tracing at damn close to 60 fps, is optimised
Resident Evil Archives@RE_Archives
New Resident Evil Requiem footage from Nvidia
English

@PeterP_1985 @goatxtray @MisterSpace3 Shouldn't we invest in a solution instead of a patch then?
RT has been there since 2018 and it still runs terribly. Upscaling is still noticeable. Both of them are dominating instead of actual optimizations. Don't stop investing in those, but don't abandon efficient programming.
English

@Starfall_Rondo @goatxtray @MisterSpace3 Then we would never see any tech advances.
This game runs on consoles with zen 2 cpus and midrange gpus.
A game scaling is a good thing and future proofs it for hardware down the line
English

@PeterP_1985 @gerulis20 @MisterSpace3 It's a fuck you because they could just optimize games to be run nativelly instead of just "haha daddy nvidia upscale the 1080p image to 4k on this $2000 card 🥰🥰"
This just makes PC gaming way more expensive, unefficient and quite literaly not-real.
English

@Starfall_Rondo @gerulis20 @MisterSpace3 If it runs well down the stack, how is it a fuck you?
Future tech should be invested in. Pushing, learning, advancing. It's humanities defining feature in all endeavours
English

@gerulis20 @MisterSpace3 @PeterP_1985 You have to push new technologies, yes, but you shouldn't just say "fuck you" to most of the community. For example: RT eats away money and development time and can't even be run natively on anything less than a $2k PC at stable 60 FPS. It doesn't even look that much better.
English

@Starfall_Rondo @MisterSpace3 @PeterP_1985 They always did, otherwise we would be stuck with ping pong
English

@goatxtray @MisterSpace3 @PeterP_1985 It's not about a setting. It's about investing so much in tech that 90% of the users won't run and thus making that same 90% not able to run games at all. Every penny and second that goes into RT could be used to get basically the same quality with rasters
English

@Starfall_Rondo @MisterSpace3 @PeterP_1985 you can literally just turn path tracing off stop being retarded
